Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery continues a trend of all Rian Johnson movies by including a Joseph Gordon-Levitt cameo that can be easily missed. Glass Onion throws Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc headlong into another mystery, amid a colorful cast of characters on a private Greek island. With the cast of the film emulating that of its predecessor through including an A-list roster, Glass Onion includes many familiar faces.

One of those familiar faces though might be much harder to discern: Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Gordon-Levitt has been a long-time collaborator of writer-director Rian Johnson and once again appears in his latest film. Differing from the main cast, however, Gordon-Levitt appears in a minor Glass Onion cameo role, which the movie has plenty of. With that being said, here is where audiences can find the secret cameo from the actor in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Voices Miles' Clock In Glass Onion

The main reason behind Gordon-Levitt's cameo being difficult to find is its lack of physical presence. The cameo is a voice role, in which Gordon-Levitt voices Miles' clock in the film. Upon landing on Miles' island, it is quickly made clear that the billionaire has an hourly "dong"; an obnoxiously loud chime that reverberates across the island at the stroke of every hour. At first, the sound has little meaning to the film outside of a humorous way to showcase Miles' excessive ways. However, later in the film, this manages to become something sinister, when the true mystery of the film reveals itself and the film takes a darker turn.

Why Joseph Gordon-Levitt Needed A Glass Onion Cameo

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Rian Johnson

Given Glass Onion director Rian Johnson's previous films, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's cameo in the film was inevitable and had to happen. This is due to the fact that Gordon-Levitt has appeared in some capacity in every single one of Rian Johnson's feature films. Beginning with Brick, Johnson's directorial debut released in 2005, Joseph Gordon-Levitt played the film's central character Brendan Frye. Johnson's next film, The Brothers Bloom, saw Gordon-Levitt appear in the cameo role of a bar patron alongside Lukas Haas who also appeared in Brick. Gordon-Levitt returned to a starring role for 2012's Looper, in which he played the younger version of Bruce Willis' Joe.

Gordon-Levitt has also appeared as an alien named Slowen Lo during The Last Jedi's Canto Bight sequence, and in the first Knives Out movie - in which Gordon-Levitt can be heard as Detective Hardrock. At the start of the film, Marta's sister is watching a TV show in which Gordon-Levitt can also be heard as the show's main detective. All of these cameo roles only go to prove why the actor had to appear in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery - so as to not break the streak between Gordon-Levitt and Johnson's collaborations.
