After playing a major role in the Star Wars prequels and the original trilogy, here's where Yoda is during Obi-Wan Kenobi. Master Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi have a strong bond throughout the Star Wars franchise, as it was Kenobi who sent Luke Skywalker to find Yoda during The Empire Strikes Back. The prequels later revealed how closely the two Jedi worked together during the Clone Wars, including how they both survived Order 66 and hatched a plan to protect Luke and Leia from Anakin Skywalker.

Yoda and Obi-Wan are two of the most popular Star Wars characters that George Lucas created, but they haven't been a big part of the franchise since Disney bought Lucasfilm. Yoda returned briefly for his lone live-action appearance since the prequels in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Ewan McGregor's Jedi is set for a much bigger role, as the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ show brings him back for a starring role after movie plans stalled. The story picks up several years after Kenobi was last seen in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, where he is now in hiding to look after Luke and avoid encountering Darth Vader.

One element not expected to be part of the Star Wars show is Master Yoda. The events of Obi-Wan Kenobi are set in 9 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin), which is a decade after Revenge of the Sith. Yoda is certainly still alive in the Star Wars timeline at this point since he did not die until 4 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin) during Return of the Jedi. Since the Master Jedi is alive during the series, the likely absence of Yoda in Obi-Wan Kenobi could be a bit unexpected. However, this is because Yoda is in the middle of his exile on Dagobah at this point in the timeline.

Yoda Arriving On Dagobah In Revenge Of The Sith Deleted Scene

The swamp planet of Dagobah is where audiences first met Yoda during The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. It wasn't until Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, though, that audiences learned why Yoda was living alone here. He traveled to Dagobah after the events of Order 66 as part of a self-imposed exile. Yoda remained on the planet for the rest of his life as far as the current Star Wars canon has revealed. But just as Obi-Wan Kenobi is changing Obi-Wan's story to include him leaving Tattooine, perhaps there is more to Yoda's story as well.

Yoda living on Dagobah during Obi-Wan Kenobi could still factor into the show's story in some fashion. Since he was one of the Jedi to survive Order 66, Darth Vader made Yoda one of the top targets for the Inquisitors. The Jedi hunters play a major role in Obi-Wan Kenobi since they are hunting down Ewan McGregor's character. Kenobi is also one of the Inquisitors' top targets during this time, which could mean Yoda could be mentioned as another loose end from Order 66.
