The Obi-Wan Kenobi series will see the return of key Star Wars characters, but some viewers may wonder where the fan-favorite former Jedi Ahsoka Tano is during the show. Obi-Wan Kenobi will follow the adventures of the titular Jedi as he watches over Luke Skywalker between the events of the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies. An appearance by Ahsoka in Kenobi is highly unlikely, but her whereabouts during the show’s timeline can be extrapolated when examining her appearances in other Star Wars material.

Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex are both original characters introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In many ways, the two are the heart and soul of the series, representing the humanity of their respective groups (Jedi and clone troopers) and quickly reaching fan-favorite status. While Rex is most likely on Seelos with fellow clones Wolffe and Gregor during Kenobi (making an appearance almost impossible), Ahsoka Tano’s activities are more loosely defined, with Kenobi taking place in between two of her canon appearances.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will take place in 9 BBY, placing it between the events of 2016’s Ahsoka novel (which takes place in 18 BBY) and the first season of Star Wars Rebels (set in 5 BBY). The Ahsoka novel has already been contradicted by The Clone Wars season 7, but if it's assumed that the Star Wars franchise still abides by the rest of its narrative, Ahsoka adopts the Fulcrum moniker and begins working alongside Bail Organa to form the Rebel Alliance in 18 BBY. Given her Fulcrum activities in Star Wars Rebels season 1, she’s presumably traveling the galaxy and contacting Rebel cells to form the Alliance during the events of Kenobi.

Obi wan kenobi Ahsoka Tano

Obi-Wan Kenobi tries to keep a low profile throughout the time between the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies, so meeting another Force-sensitive, especially one as powerful and familiar to Obi-Wan as Ahsoka, would potentially impede their respective missions. Moreover, there’s no indication that Ahsoka is aware that Obi-Wan survived, aside from hearing his warning to all surviving Jedi that the Jedi Temple on Coruscant is teeming with Imperial forces, making it a trap. Considering that Bail Organa didn’t even inform Rex that Obi-Wan is still alive during the events of Rebels, it’s unlikely that he’d fill in Ahsoka on the Jedi’s survival as a way to protect them both, meaning Ahsoka's potential reunion with Obi-Wan in this period of time seems increasingly impossible.

With all of this in mind, it’s unfortunately unlikely that Ahsoka will appear in the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series. Obi-Wan spends most of his time on Tatooine looking after Luke Skywalker while Ahsoka contacts Rebel cells and helps them join the growing Rebel Alliance. Since there’s no Rebel activity on Tatooine, Ahsoka is likely elsewhere on her mission while Obi-Wan continues his throughout the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
