Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Book of Boba Fett episode 6.

While the Book of Boba Fett featured a handful of unexpected characters and appearances, one of the most surprising was the return of Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). Appearing on the same planet where Luke Skywalker has been training young Grogu in the ways of the Force, the former Jedi meets with the Mandalorian Din Djarin as well as with Luke himself (the son of her old master). However, the end of the episode sees Tano leaving Luke and Grogu, potentially teasing future adventures with her own Star Wars series coming to Disney+.

In The Book of Boba Fett episode 6, Din Djarin wishes to visit Grogu who's in the midst of his Jedi training. However, the Mandalorian ultimately doesn't meet with the child after speaking with Ahsoka Tano. Tano helps him realize that Grogu still shares a strong bond with Djarin and that seeing him would only make his path harder. As such, Din Djarin concedes and returns to Tatooine, leaving his gift of beskar armor for Grogu with Ahsoka. The new episode also sees Tano speaking with Luke (a landmark Star Wars moment). After speaking with Skywalker about the child and noting how much Luke reminds Ahoska of his father she says her goodbyes, presumedly leaving the planet altogether.

While some may be confused as to why Ahsoka wouldn't stay to help Luke start his Jedi academy, it's important to note that she no longer considers herself to be a Jedi after she left the Order prior to the end of The Clone Wars. Furthermore, The Mandalorian season 2 revealed that Ahsoka is on a mission to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, the Imperial leader who went missing along with Jedi Knight Ezra Bridger (as seen in Star Wars Rebels). Finding Thrawn (and possibly Ezra as well) will most likely be the key focus of the upcoming Ahsoka series in development, so the odds are good that Ahsoka left Luke and Grogu in The Book of Boba Fett to resume her search for the Grand Admiral.

While she may not be a Jedi herself, Ahsoka is clearly a friend to Luke and supports his dream of building a new Jedi Order. As such, she and Luke may meet again as she herself suggests before exiting the episode. Additionally, it would certainly be interesting to see Ahsoka requesting Luke's help when and if she does find Thrawn considering the high levels of danger he'll no doubt pose to the galaxy. Likewise, perhaps Tano's adventures in her own series will see her return to Luke, allowing viewers to see the evolution of his academy with more students (perhaps even his training of young Ben Solo).

While Star Wars fans may have wanted Ahsoka to stick around longer and join Luke, it makes sense why she left. Not only has she found her own path in the Force apart from the Jedi, but she also has her own purpose which will likely be fleshed out in her upcoming series. As such, it seems likely that Ahsoka Tano left to continue her mission searching for Thrawn, her departure in The Book of Boba Fett setting up the Ahsoka series.
