Doctor Strange is quickly becoming one of the most important characters in the entire MCU, and with his latest movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness currently in theaters, fans have already begun to speculate where Strange could appear next.
As of now, Benedict Cumberbatch has not been officially announced to be appearing in any of Marvel's upcoming projects, so the future of Doctor Strange seems a little unclear. However, considering the success of Strange's second feature film, it seems guaranteed that he'll make an appearance somewhere. There's no doubt that he'll be back at some point - so the question is, when?
Deadpool 3
The first two Deadpool movies were completely separate from the MCU, with the character's story presumably taking place in a different universe. But Marvel Studios' merger with 21st Century Fox now means that characters like Deadpool will finally be able to make their transition into the MCU.
Shawn Levy is set to direct the next installment in the Deadpool series, which will likely see Ryan Reynold's famous anti-hero move over to the MCU and interact with a few other fan-favorite characters. This transition could potentially have some multiversal elements, so it seems possible that Strange could be involved somehow.
Secret Invasion
Marvel's upcoming Disney+ show Secret Invasion will hopefully answer a few questions that fans have had since Spider-Man: Far From Home revealed that Nick Fury is currently off-world and has been replaced by a Skrull named Talos. The series will follow Fury and Talos as they navigate a wide-scale Skrull invasion of Earth.
In the comics, the Secret Invasion storyline is one of the biggest and most famous crossover events, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see some familiar faces pop up in the Disney+ show. Strange could definitely be one of them, as he's been a huge help to the Avengers since the events of Infinity War and Endgame.
Shang-Chi 2
Although nothing is known right now about the upcoming Shang-Chi sequel, it definitely seems likely that the story will be rooted in the broader MCU with some other characters popping up in some form. If the film follows the comic route, it will likely see Shang-Chi as he joins forces with the New Avengers.
Many Marvel fans are already calling Shang-Chi one of the best new characters in the MCU, so he's probably going to play a huge role in the future, and his sequel film is sure to introduce this in an interesting way. With Wong's appearance in Shang-Chi, it's possible that he and Strange will appear in the sequel.
Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
The Quantum Realm is something that's still pretty mysterious and enigmatic in the MCU, and if there's one character who could shed a little light on its existence, it's Doctor Strange. Although Quantumania will probably focus more on Scott and Hope's story, there's always room for a supporting character like Strange to pop up.
The film is also set to star Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, whose variant was first introduced in the Disney+ show Loki. His story is deeply rooted in the multiverse, so Doctor Strange could definitely team up with Scott and Hope in an attempt to take him down.
Loki: Season 2
The second season of Loki was recently confirmed by Marvel, and with the first season's shocking cliffhanger ending, it doesn't really come as a surprise. The show will likely see Loki face off against one of Kang's evil variants whilst traveling the multiverse with Sylvie and Morbius.
As with any multiverse-related story, there's always going to be a pretty high chance for Doctor Strange to show up and help. He's one of the only characters in the MCU right now with experience in the multiverse, so it might be a good idea for Loki to go to Doctor Strange for help and support.
Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four are finally moving over to the MCU at the end of Phase 4 in their own solo movie, but Multiverse of Madness recently made their entrance a whole lot easier. In the movie, Doctor Strange travels across the multiverse to Earth-838, where he encounters the Illuminati - headed by Reed Richards himself.
Although this version of Richards won't be returning to the MCU anytime soon, there's likely a variant of him on Earth-616 that will appear in the movie. Richards and Strange have a close bond in the comics, and their relationship is an extremely important one in relation to the Avengers and the Illuminati - so it wouldn't be too surprising if Strange is there when Reed Richards appears next in the MCU.
Agatha: House of Harkness
Agatha Harkness was first introduced in the Disney+ show WandaVision, where she revealed herself to be the surprise villain of the series. Although Wanda managed to defeat her in the end, it was recently revealed that Agatha would be returning with her own show, House of Harkness.
Agatha was the first character in the MCU to use the Darkhold, which was destroyed by Wanda in Multiverse of Madness - so it's possible that Agatha could turn to Strange in order to get it back. Or perhaps he could even turn to Agatha in order to learn more about witchcraft and dark magic. Either way, there's a clear connection between the two.
What If..? Season 2
Doctor Strange was one of the main recurring characters in the first season of What If...?, so there's no reason that he couldn't appear in the second season. Even though most of the episodes are separate stories, Strange's connection to The Watcher probably makes him the most likely candidate to reappear.
However, if Strange does appear in the second season of What If...?, it likely won't be the version of Strange that audiences know from the movies. Like the first season, it would be a variant of Strange from a completely different universe, so the possibilities are endless.
Spider-Man 4
The fourth installment in Tom Holland's Spider-Man series hasn't even been announced yet, but it would be a perfect place to bring Strange back for a supporting role. Strange's spell at the end of No Way Home was responsible for everybody forgetting Parker's secret identity, so it would make sense for the story to continue with his character.
Spider-Man and Doctor Strange have teamed up plenty of times in the comics, and their on-screen chemistry in No Way Home was so entertaining that it would be a shame if they didn't appear together again in the future. If Strange manages to regain his memory of Parker, he could play a huge role in fixing the effects of the spell.
Doctor Strange 3
Both the original Doctor Strange and Multiverse of Madness were pretty huge hits with fans, so it would be a big surprise if the character didn't get a third movie to complete his trilogy. Whilst he does work well as a supporting character, it would be a shame to not continue his journey in a more meaningful way.
There are plenty of routes that Marvel could take with Doctor Strange 3, but the post-credits scene of Multiverse of Madness seems to suggest that it will have something to do with his new friend Clea and his newfound Darkhold powers. As with anything in Marvel, the possibilities are endless.
