Where Are The Mandalorian & Grogu Going After The Book of Boba Fett Finale?
In The Book of Boba Fett's finale, Boba (Temuera Morrison), Din, Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), and all their helpers finally manage to bring peace to Tatooine, ending the spice trade and eliminating the ruthless Pyke Syndicate (as well as Boba's old enemy, Cad Bane). Mando fought by Boba's side until the Pyke threat was eliminated, even telling Boba he was willing to "die in the name of honor" and adding "this is the way" when Boba seemed surprised Mando still believed in his Creed. This announces that Mando hasn't given up on the Children of the Watch or on their honor code.
The Book of Boba Fett episode 7 sees Din finish his business with Boba: he fulfilled his promise to ensure Boba's victory in Mos Espa. It would come as no surprise if Mando will now seek to redeem himself in order to be welcomed back into the Mandalorian Creed. However, this won't be an easy task, as "the living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore" have been destroyed and the Armorer refused to give Din an alternative to this solution. The Mandalorian Purge committed by the Empire left Din's planet in ruins, but he might find his way to Mandalore in hope of redemption. But now that Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) brought Din a "surprise," his priorities might shift to keeping Grogu safe. There's no doubt that Mando and Grogu in season 3 will be facing greater perils than before.
How Din Djarin & Grogu Reuniting Sets Up The Mandalorian Season 3
At the end of The Book of Boba Fett, Mando has Grogu, the Darksaber, and the desire to find a way to redeem himself and be welcomed back into The Children of the Watch. Din and Grogu reuniting announces a long series of adventures the pair will have throughout the galaxy. Moreover, with Grogu a former Padawan (who is as strong with the Force as ever), and Mando the owner of the Darksaber, it wouldn't be surprising if Din Djarin will train Grogu to use the Darksaber. Grogu might become the second Mandalorian Jedi, after the aforementioned legendary Tarre Vizsla.
Furthermore, in The Book of Boba Fett, the Armorer blames Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) for the Night of 1000 Tears: "If it (the Darksaber) is not won in combat and falls into the hands of the undeserving, it will be a curse unto the nation. Mandalore will be laid to waste and its people scattered to the four winds." In The Mandalorian season 2, Bo-Katan makes it clear how much she wants the Darksaber but refuses to accept it from Mando as she insists she must earn it in battle. Din Djarin seems intent on seeking the living waters of Mandalore to be forgiven for removing his helmet, and in doing so reclaim his identity as a Mandalorian. Meanwhile, Grogu's very story arc threatens to break both Jedi and Mandalorian traditions. The Mandalorian season 3 already promises to be incredibly significant for Mando and Grogu, and the trailers have already given several shots of what appears to be Mandalore.
The War for Mandalore and the Mandalorians' reclaiming their independence is reported to be an upcoming plot point in The Mandalorian, so Mando and Grogu in season 3 will almost definitely be swept up in the events leading up to this legendary Star Wars conflict. Whether the War for Mandalore will break out during season 3 of The Mandalorian isn't known, as it could be the next season of The Mandalorian simply sees the key players being set out before the battle commences. Notably, though the Darksaber is nowhere to be seen in the trailer, Mando and Grogu in season 3 will no doubt have to face the repercussions of Mando winning the iconic lightsaber in combat. Indeed, it remains to be seen whether Din Djarin or Bo-Katan will end up becoming the undisputed leader of their people. With the most likely final wielder of the Darksaber being Grogu — the only Mandalorian Jedi in the galaxy — even Grogu might end up becoming ruler of Mandalore.
