Marvel was expected to release the trailers for some of its upcoming projects during the Super Bowl 2023, and while it brought a new look at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the first trailer for The Marvels didn’t arrive – so when will it be released? The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues exploring the multiverse in Phase 5, which will see the return of various characters, among them Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), who is joining forces with two other female heroes in the long-awaited sequel to Captain Marvel, appropriately titled The Marvels.

Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels will bring together Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) as they try to figure out what’s going on with their individual powers and what has been bringing them together in strange and unexpected ways. The Marvels is scheduled for a July 2023 release, so a first look at it was expected to arrive during the Super Bowl 2023, but that didn’t happen. This actually fits with what the MCU has been doing with some of the Multiverse Saga’s biggest releases, so with that in mind, when will the first trailer for The Marvels release?

The Marvels Trailer Will Likely Release In April 2023

At the time of writing, Marvel is preparing for the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and has already started marketing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is scheduled for a May 5, 2023, release. It makes sense, then, that Marvel is waiting a bit longer to start promoting The Marvels, and it fits with what the studio has been doing with the trailers of some of Phase 4’s biggest releases, most notably with Thor: Love & Thunder. Thor’s fourth solo adventure was released on July 8, 2022, but the first trailer didn’t arrive until mid-April, less than three months before the movie’s release. The Marvels is scheduled for a July 28, 2023, release, so the first trailer will likely be released in April.

Not only does this fit Marvel’s current marketing plan but it also gives The Marvels more chances to catch the audience's attention as it avoids saturating them with Marvel content. Ant-Mand the Wasp: Quantumania would have already been released by then, and marketing for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will continue, but as the Guardians’ new adventure arrives in May, releasing The Marvels’ first trailer in April will allow Marvel to play it in front of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in theaters, as well as a few other blockbusters, giving it more exposure.

What To Expect From The First The Marvels Trailer

The Marvels Trailer Fans Outraged Reactions custom image

As happens with all movies from the MCU, plot details about The Marvels have been kept under wraps, but the TV series Ms. Marvel gave a massive hint at what’s to come in this next adventure. At the end of Ms. Marvel, her bangle emitted a strange glow and abruptly teleported Kamala somewhere else, making her switch places with her hero, Carol Danvers. The Marvels, then, will see Carol, Kamala, and Monica Rambeau switching places with each other whenever they use their powers, and together they will figure out why. The first trailer for The Marvels will surely focus on this problem and how it will bring these characters together, while also showing who the villain will be and what their plans will be. The Marvels’ first trailer has a lot of questions to answer, and it’s only a matter of waiting a bit more to finally watch it.
