After various delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jackass Forever has finally been released in theaters, but when will it be available to stream? MTV was a powerhouse in the 1990s and it was home to a variety of TV shows that ended up becoming classics, but few had the success that Jackass did. Created by Johnny Knoxville, Spike Jonze, and Jeff Tremaine, Jackass began as an idea for an article about testing self-defense equipment on oneself, but it ended up becoming a reality stunt comedy TV series that has been equal parts successful and controversial.

Jackass aired for three seasons on MTV from 2000 to 2002, and while it has a simple premise, it proved to be quite successful and entertaining: Knoxville and crew (Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Dave England, and more, as well as guest stars) carry out a variety of stunts and pranks on each other or the public, with no limits or much care about the pain that will come with all these (mostly dangerous) activities. After the main series came to an end, a movie, simply titled Jackass: The Movie, was released with the purpose of closing the series, but its success made way for a franchise with various spinoffs (such as Wildboyz and Viva La Bam), a video game, and five movies, with the latest one being Jackass Forever.

After Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, the crew took a break from movies (as in 2021 they brought Jackass Shark Week to the Discovery Channel) but are now back with Jackass Forever, which follows the exact same basic idea as all previous movies and the TV show. Jackass Forever reunites original cast members Knoxville, Steve-O, Pontius, England, Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, Ehren McGhehey, and Preston Lacy, as well as Bam Margera, who was fired during production of the movie. Jackass Forever also introduces new cast members Jasper Dolphin, Rachel Wolfson, Sean “Poopies” McInerney, Erick Manaka, and Zach Holmes. The movie went through many delays but it finally got a release date of February 4, 2022, but a big question remains: when will it be released online?

The coronavirus pandemic has changed the way movies are released, as many were delayed so many times that studios opted for a streaming release instead of a theatrical one, while others released their movies simultaneously in theaters and streaming and some have reduced the window between theatrical and streaming release. Jackass Forever was granted a theatrical release, but as it’s distributed by Paramount Pictures, it’s likely it won’t be long until it hits the world of streaming. Paramount has had a 45-day window before sending its movies to Paramount+, where is where the rest of the movies and the TV show can be found, and if the same applies to Jackass Forever, it will be available to stream around March 21.

At the time of writing, Paramount hasn’t made any official announcements on when Jackass Forever will arrive on Paramount+, but a release date can be expected to be announced in late February or early March. The pandemic has changed the way the film industry works, especially when it comes to the process of releasing movies in theaters and home video/streaming, which in many cases has benefitted the audience as they don’t have to wait long to watch them at home anymore.
