Frank Grillo is heading to Netflix with the release of the teaser trailer for the action-thriller Wheelman. 2017 may prove to be the year of the heist film. Edgar Wright kicked things off with his eccentric romantic-musical Baby Driver. The film continued the auteur's critical streak while also earning him and Sony a sizable payday. Steven Soderbergh then followed things up with Logan Lucky, which has also been getting a fair amount of acclaim. Now, Grillo and Netflix will attempt to finish out the year with their take on the colorful profession.

On October 20, Netflix will continue its streak of releasing original films with the premiere of Wheelman. The thriller will see Grillo's character forced into a high-stakes street race after an attempt to rob a bank goes south. Not only will he have a car full of cash that will put a target on his back, but his daughter's life will be in the balance. The film, which is now in post-production, was written by Jeremy Rush who will also direct. And though a full trailer is still around the corner, we now have a tease of the film.

The teaser trailer for Wheelman, offers some glimpses of the dark and moody new film. Unlike the irreverence on display in Baby Driver and Logan LuckyWheelman looks to be taking a more grounded approach to the life of a getaway driver.

Frank Grillo as Crossbones

Wheelman will also serve as the first new venture under the War Party banner that Grillo began with director Joe Carnahan. Though Grillo has worked steadily over the years, his turns in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War have certainly afforded him the clout to get the venture going. Add in Carnahan's acclaim from films like The Grey and his stint producing The Blacklist, and it's no wonder War Party was recently able to raise enough money for 4–5 new films.

Along with Wheelman, War Party will be working on the American remake of The Raid. Early this year, word broke that Carnahan would be heading up the film with Grillo himself attached as well. If the actor and director are lucky, Wheelman and the remake of The Raid could see them kick off a run of dark new action films. There's no telling how the new version of The Raid will do, but the Netflix release of Wheelman certainly bodes well for its success.
