Min’s warning for Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) in The Wheel of Time episode 7 may signal a change to a major twist in Robert Jordan’s books. After seeking out Min Farshaw (Kae Alexander) to help her identify the Dragon Reborn, Moiraine learned a startling clue about her future. According to Min, the Amylin Seat will be Moiraine’s “downfall”.

In Amazon’s Wheel of Time show, the current leader of the Aes Sedai is vital to Moiraine’s story. Similar to the backstory that was established for her in the books, it was revealed in the show that Moiraine’s mission to find the Dragon Reborn was supported in secret by the Amyrlin Seat, Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okonedo). Apparently, Moiraine and Siuan have also been engaged in a romantic affair (which was only implied in the books). The show complicated their romance in episode 6 by forcing Siuan to exile Moiraine from the White Tower.

As if banishment wasn’t enough, Wheel of Time is now suggesting that Siuan will cause Moiraine even more problems in the series. Min claimed that in her viewing of Moiraine she saw the Amyrlin Seat in “full regalia”. She didn’t clarify the Amyrlin’s actions, but did say she’d bring about Moiraine’s “downfall”. What’s interesting about this line is that it doesn’t line up with anything that Siuan does in the books. Moiraine has her share of struggles in the books, but they can’t be blamed on Siuan. However, there’s a chance that Moiraine’s “downfall” is linked to concerns they had in episode 6 and Siuan’s book story. It’s possible that Amazon’s Wheel of Time show will make Moiraine and Siuan share the same fate.

In the fourth book, The Shadow Rising, Siuan was removed from power and stilled for keeping what she knew about the Dragon Reborn a secret. But if Moiraine was implicated in this as well, they’d both get this punishment. Being stilled – regardless of the reason – would certainly explain Min’s warning. Being cut off from the One Power typically causes a person to lose their will to live. That didn’t happen to Moiraine in the books, but that doesn’t mean this scenario is off the table. If Wheel of Time were to send both characters down this path, this could result in a significant change of direction for Moiraine’s story. That’s not impossible, considering that the show already deviated from the source material with Moiraine by having her exiled from the White Tower.

Another possibility is that Min wasn’t actually referring to Siuan at all. Instead, she could have been talking about Elaida, a ruthless member of the Red Ajah who briefly took over Siuan’s position. It may be her who brings harm to Moiraine, whether it be through stilling or something else. Either way, Min’s warning doesn’t bode well for Moiraine’s future in The Wheel of Time. Her viewings always come true.
