The Wheel of Time books feature a massive cast of characters, and so far, a long list of them have already been confirmed to appear in the upcoming Amazon TV adaptation. Early in 2018, a TV series based on the bestselling book series was reportedly in development, and in October of that year, Amazon ordered Wheel of Time to series. The Wheel of Time main cast was announced in August 2019, and filming began a month later.

Written by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, Wheel of Time is a fantasy series that follows the lives of several people wrapped up in a story that involves the reincarnation of an incredibly powerful warrior called the Dragon and his conflict with an evil entity known as the Dark One. Consisting of 14 books published between 1990 and 2013, Wheel of Time explores the destiny of the Dragon Reborn, as well as the journeys of the people around him, who all have their own struggles to go through as they all work to defeat the Dark One and his 13 followers, the Forsaken.

The first book of the series, The Eye of the World, starts off by sending eight characters on an adventure connected to the search for the Dragon Reborn, but as the series goes on, the cast expands to well over a hundred diverse characters, with multiple people getting drawn into the story of the Dragon Reborn and his battle with the Forsaken. Here's every character from the Wheel of Time books confirmed to appear in the Amazon Prime TV show so far.

Wheel of Time's Main Characters

The Eye of the World centers on six characters from the village of Emond's Field, a place that is attacked by a horde of monstrous creatures called Trollocs. Their targets are three young men, as one of them is believed to be the reincarnation of the warrior fated to defeat the Dark One. The person in question is Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowksi), an innocent young farmboy and the main protagonist of the series. Mat Cauthon (Barney Harris), one of Rand's two best friends, is an immature prankster and one of three men suspected of being the Dragon Reborn. The third target of the Trollocs is Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), a blacksmith's apprentice. To protect the people they care about from more Trolloc attacks, the three men must leave Emond's Field together.

Along for the journey is Egwene al'Vere (Madeleine Madden), Rand's first love interest and a woman believed to have the potential to channel the One Power, an incredible source of energy typically used only by women. When the story begins, Egwene is the apprentice of Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins), who holds the title of "Wisdom" in Emond Field. As a Wisdom, Nynaeve's job is to offer advice, counseling, and healing to the people of the town. Like Egwene, Nynaeve is said to be capable of channeling the One Power. For this reason, the two women travel with Rand, Perrin, and Mat when they leave Emond's Field. Egwene and Nynaeve are told that they can be trained in how to use the One Power.

Wheel of Time's Aes Sedai (& Their Warders)

In the world of Wheel of Time, the women who channel the One Power are part of a sacred order called the Aes Sedai. The Aes Sedai are broken up into different branches, such as the Green Ajah, the Blue Ajah, the Brown Ajah, and more. One of the Aes Sedai is Morraine (Rosamund Pike) of the Blue Ajah, who comes to Emond's Field on a quest to find the Dragon Reborn. Since she can't be certain of the Dragon Reborn's identity, she takes Rand, Mat, Perrin, Nynaeve, and Egwene with her. Assisting Morraine on her mission is Lan (Daniel Henney), her "Warder". Warders are highly trained warriors psychically bonded with a member of the Aes Sedai. Warders are entrusted with protecting them throughout their adventures.

Two more members of the Aes Sedai from the Wheel of Time books have been confirmed for the TV series. Leane Sharif (Jennifer Cheon Garcia) of the Blue Ajah is a relatively minor character who holds the position of Keeper of the Chronicles,  which means that she's the second-in-command to the Aes Sedai's leader, the Amyrlin Seat. Leane doesn't have much of a presence in the beginning, but starts to become more important in the fight against the Dark One in the later books. Alanna Mosvani (Priyanka Bose) is an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah who makes Rand her Warder without his consent. In Amazon's Wheel of Time, she'll be introduced with two Warders: Ihvon (Emmanuel Imani) and Maksim (Taylor Napier). The TV version of Alanna will be involved in a romantic relationship with both Warders. So far, Maksim is the only confirmed character who is original to the TV series.

Other Wheel of Time Characters

In the Wheel of Time books, Rand, Mat, Perrin, Nynaeve, Egwene, Lan, and Morraine take an additional character with them on their adventure. This character is Thom Merrilin (Alexandre Willaume), an aging, traveling bard - known in the books as a "gleeman" - who finds himself in Emond's Field when the Trollocs attack. After joining Rand's group, Thom becomes a key ally to the heroes and remains a major character throughout the series.

Tam al'Thor (Michael McElhatton), Rand's adopted father, is a former soldier and expert swordsman who retired to become a farmer in Emond's Field. Though Tam doesn't go with Rand on his adventure, he does reappear in later installments in the series. Padan Fain (Johann Meyers) is a peddler and a secret Darkfriend. A Darkfriend is a human who serves the Dark One. Padan Fain, one of the first villains encountered by Rand's group, is the character who brought the Trollocs to Emond's Field.

Logain (Alvaro Morte) is a man who can channel the One Power. Since men who use the One Power are fated to go insane, Logain was considered to be a danger to society. Logan is also referred to as a "False Dragon", a person who was supposedly the Dragon Reborn but proven to be an impostor. As punishment for his crimes, Logain is "gentled" by the Aes Sedai, which means that he had the One Power stripped away from him.

Loial (Hammed Animashaun) is a scholar and a member of a race called the Ogier. The Ogier, who stand ten feet tall, are commonly mistaken for Trollocs, and because of their resemblance to the evil beasts, are sometimes treated as threats. Loial isn't with Rand's group at the beginning of the story, but joins up with them later on and decides to write a book about their adventures. Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins confirmed in a recent Q&A on Instagram that Loial will be accurately portrayed as a Ogier, and not as a human. Given his height, CGI may be needed to properly bring the character to life. In the same Q&A that Loial was discussed, Judkins confirmed that Narg will have a presence in the story. Narg is a Trolloc who attacks Rand in the very beginning of The Eye of the World. Judkins has also stated that Min, one of Rand's three main love interests and a woman who can see vision of the future, will appear in season 1, but no actress has been announced as of yet.
