FX has renewed What We Do In The Shadows for season 4. The horror comedy franchise first came to prominence with the 2014 mockumentary film of the same name, depicting the lives of several vampires who live together in a Wellington flat. That film was written by New Zealand actor Taika Waititi, who also appeared in the movie as a 379-year-old vampire. Waititi was joined by fellow New Zealanders Jermaine Clement and Jonathan Brugh for the project. Following the success of the film, Clement adapted the project into the mockumentary series, which has now run for three seasons.

According to Deadline, What We Do In The Shadows will return for a fourth season on FX. “Fans can’t seem to get enough of What We Do in the Shadows and FX is ready to feed that appetite by setting up the series for a fourth season,” said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming at FX, in a Friday the 13th announcement. Currently, there isn't a release date set for season 4, but What We Do in the Shadows season 3 will premiere on September 2.

The news came soon after a trailer dropped for season 3 of the show. The trailer teased some of the show’s exciting developments, including the undead roommates now being in charge of the Vampiric Council. Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes, with the first two, titled “The Prisoner” and “The Cloak of Duplication," premiering back-to-back.

It shouldn't be a huge surprise that FX is continuing the series. What We Do In The Shadows has proved a hit for the network, landing 10 Emmy Award Nominations during its first two seasons, including Outstanding Comedy Series. Horror hounds have praised the series for its off-kilter charm and its expansion of horror’s vampiric lore. Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Stories will return for a second season of spooks in 2022 as well, so horror fans will have plenty of content to look forward to on FX in the next few years.
