What We Do in the Shadows season 3 will bring back Kristen Schaal's Floating Woman. The second television series in the franchise based on Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's 2014 film of the same name, the FX horror mockumentary follows four vampiric roommates, played by  Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Mark Proksch, and their forsaken familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) through their nightly misadventures on Staten Island. The show has been praised for its delightfully wacky take on the vampiric lore, with season 2 nabbing eight Emmy nods, including in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, in the 2020 awards season. The show's season 3 is due to premiere on September 2, 2021, and What We Do in the Shadows season 4 has also already been ordered.

After the smashing success of What We Do in the Shadows past iteration, expectations from its upcoming season are logically high. Besides that, there has also been a persistent flow of teasers and promotional material for season 3, which has also hyped fans up for the show's return. Packing a lot of fun, season 3 is highly anticipated for its ridiculously hilarious storylines, such as Nandor's (Novak) quest for love, Colin Robinson's (Proksch) 100th birthday party, the vampires' day out, and for expanding the show's worldbuilding by introducing new supernatural creatures like gargoyles, sirens, and hellhounds. Earlier, it was also confirmed that a popular What We Do in the Shadows character from the previous seasons would also show up in season 3, but their identity was largely kept a secret until now.

What We Do in the Shadows' loyalists may have already caught a glimpse of Schaal's return in season 3's official, biting trailer that was released earlier this week. Schaal had staged her debut in the mockumentary series in the star-studded season 1 episode 7, "The Trial," which saw the Vampiric Council trying the vampires for killing the Baron. In the episode, the Gravity Falls actress played an envoy of the council, who guides Nandor and the gang through their legal proceedings. Now that she is making a comeback, Schaal's Floating Woman will assist the leading vampires in assuming their new duties as leaders of the Council, after its original members were slain by Guillermo in season 2's explosive ending.

When Schaal last appeared in What We Do in the Shadows, her comedic chops were on full display, and she entertained audiences with her buoyant dance performance and risible demonic voice. It was a shame that season 2 couldn't bring her back, but now in season 3, viewers should brace themselves for some major laugh-out-loud moments as the actress is making a full-fledged return. Schaal's original appearance on the show was meant to be a one-off, but now that the show is bringing her back, fans can expect her to stick around for a bit longer. After all, season 3 largely revolves around the vampires' takeover of the Vampiric Council, so they will need all the help they can get from its only veteran member to manage their new responsibilities.
