Harvey Guillén, who plays Guillermo in the FX series What We Do in the Shadows, has teased the character's season 3 storyline. Guillén has been with the show since season 1, which is based on the 2014 mockumentary film of the same name. The film was written by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, with Waititi directing and both actors starring in the project alongside Jonathan Brugh. Clement is also the creator of the spinoff show, which stars Guillén, Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Mark Proksch as a coven of vampires living together and being followed by a documentary film crew.

Guillén's character Guillermo is a "familiar" to Novak's Nandor, which is a human who wishes to be made into a vampire and acts as a servant until that time comes. As Guillermo's patience wore thin in prior seasons as the only reasonable character who is constantly cleaning up messes, a big twist bookended season 2. Guillermo discovered that he was actually very adept at killing vampires (more so than attempting to become one). Eventually, he discovered that he is a descendant of Abraham Van Helsing, the famed vampire hunter.

Speaking to Variety, Guillén said that Guillermo will finally reach his limits with the coven in What We Do in the Shadows season 3, having had enough of the vampires across the previous two seasons, and feeling more confident after learning his true nature. As the only human in the household, Guillén says that Guillermo connects to the documentary camera as if it's another human being, while the vampires continue to behave like vampires: without consequences. Having helped to build the character from the ground up, Guillén says it has been an honor to bring Guillermo to life. However, it seems like the character will finally be pushed too far in season 3, with Guillén saying:

"I can say one thing for sure: Everyone has their limits. Everyone can be pushed to the limit until they can’t take anymore. And I think that you will see that this season with Guillermo."

Guillén is no stranger to film and television, having made a name for himself in such shows as Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Archer, The Thundermans and The Magicians. He has also appeared in a number of feature films, including the Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson-led comedy The Internship. Guillén has more projects lined up for his future, too, including a role in the new Jack Reacher series, Reacher, and the sci-fi comedy film I'm Totally Fine with Natalie Morales and Jillian Bell. Guillén will also star in season 4 of What We Do in the Shadows.

Fans of What We Do in the Shadows are sure to be happy with the return of the show, which simply would not be the same without Guillermo's presence. Guillermo is akin to Jim Halpert's character in The Office, acting as the anchor for the audience as the sane, rational voice that reminds people what's really going on. Guillén's portrayal of Guillermo is unmatched in that regard and it will be interesting to see his character grow, rather than simply always playing the doormat to a coven of vain, blood-sucking killers. At this point, Guillermo is a force to be reckoned with, and it sounds like What We Do in the Shadows season 3 will only serve as concrete proof of that.
