Mark Hamill reveals that he got to keep his fangs as a memento from What We Do In The Shadows. Best known for his defining role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, Hamill got a change of pace in a whole new genre when he guest-starred on the hit FX comedy series. Written by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, the show acts as a spinoff to the duo's original 2014 film by the same name.

What We Do In The Shadows documents the lives of four house-sharing vampires: Nandor, played by Kayvan Novak, Laszlo, played by Matt Berry, Nadja Antipaxos, played by Natasia Demetriou, and Colin Robinson, played by Mark Proksch. Joining them in Staten Island is Nandor's downtrodden human familiar, Guillermo (played by Harvey Guillén). Hamill cameoed in the season 2 episode, "On The Run," which proved to be one of the most memorable to date. He portrayed the aptly named Jim the Vampire, who spent the last 167 years hunting down Laszlo for failing to pay his rent. Rather than pay what he owed, Laszlo opted to flee and assume the identity of a bar owner named Jackie Daytona. After tracking him down a second time, now popular and fanatically dedicated to a girls volleyball team, Laszlo settles his debt with Jim by handing him a talking fish ornament from behind the bar.

In an interview with ComicBook, Hamill reminisced over his time on What We Do In The Shadows and revealed what props he'd taken home with him. Admitting that he'd kept his custom made fangs, Hamill entertained the idea of using them again this Halloween. Impressively, he said the prop department also gifted him a dagger from the original film, which he'd also used in his cameo episode, adding, "What a great collectable that is." Check out Hamill's comments below:

"Maybe this year I'll use my fangs from [FX's] What We Do In The Shadows [...] They Let me keep my fangs, because when we were shooting, I said 'Wait a second, since these were fit directly to my mouth, can I keep them?' And they said, 'Absolutely, be our guest'. So I do have my fangs."

"The prop department, I was really touched by this, because a lot of times, they'll be told, 'Don't bring in items for Mark to sign,' by the production crew, and once you get to know the crew, they'll say, 'I know I'm not supposed to ask, but I'd love you to sign X, Y, or Z', and I'll say, 'Sure, come on, bring it in.' By doing that, and it only takes a few minutes during your lunch hour or even if it's just on set, but my point is, at the end of the show, the prop department gave me a dagger that was part of my character -- in the episode, it belongs to my character -- but what was significant about it was they said, 'This dagger is from the original What We Do In The Shadows film,' I said, 'Oh, my gosh, what a great collectible that is.' I'm staring at it right now on the shelf in my man cave."

Coming from Luke Skywalker, it can be assumed that the dagger from What We Do In The Shadows is an impressive find indeed. Claiming an acting career that has spanned nearly five decades and with an endless list of credits to his name, it's likely that Hamill can tell a worthwhile collectible when he sees one. In the past, the former Jedi master has even offered words of caution to over-eager fans hoping to purchase his lightsaber, warning them that he had used several and that no one prop could claim to be the sole original.

Hamill's character from What We Do In The Shadows was left on something of a cliffhanger by the conclusion of "On The Run." Having realized Laszlo's deception, the door remains ajar for the return of Jim the Vampire and more hilarious interactions with Berry. A funny and now beloved addition to the show, it would seem a pity if Jim wasn't given at least one more opportunity to settle his score with Laszlo, which would perhaps even prompt the return of Berry's fan-favorite persona, Jackie Daytona. Though a future return has neither been confirmed nor denied by writers Clement and Waititi, Hamill may one day have reason to wear his fangs again.
