The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are coming, and save, for an official confirmation, there are already lots of details about the premium earbuds floating around. OnePlus has launched two pairs of earbuds this year. They are the Nord Buds and the Nord Buds CE. The former pair is sold in the U.S. and is OnePlus's current cheapest set of earbuds in the region, at $39.

For that price, owners get 7 hours of listening time on a single charge, Dolby Atmos support, and a customizable equalizer. The Nord Buds CE cost a bit less and have an open-back design like the AirPods 3. They also have a shorter battery life of 4.5 hours and lack ANC like the Nord Buds, but work with Android and iOS devices. OnePlus launched that version in India, where it sells for about $29.

The first-generation OnePlus Buds Pro were impressive, offering premium features at a price that undercut the competition. With the successor's known details, OnePlus may again beat its rivals. Starting with the design, OnePlus appears to be sticking to the same blueprint of the OnePlus Buds Pro as seen in renders published by 91Mobiles. The earbuds are shown sporting the same familiar dual-material finish as their predecessors. They come in a similar-sized rectangular charging case, and while it looks like it is the same as that of the OnePlus Buds Pro, it isn't.

Better Noise Cancelation

The renders show the lid doesn't have a recess in the shape of the earbuds, as is present on the OnePlus Buds Pro. In addition, there is an inscription that reads “co-created with Dynaudio,” which reveals that OnePlus has partnered with the Danish audio company. This should not come as a big surprise, as OnePlus's parent company, Oppo, has partnered with Dynaudio for its own earbuds. Finally, the renders show the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will be available in a green colorway not available for the original OnePlus Buds Pro. An earlier leak says the pair of earbuds will also be available in black and white colors.

With respect to the specs, each earbud of the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will be equipped with a dual-driver system that includes an 11mm driver and a 6mm driver. OnePlus's new pair of earbuds will have adaptive noise cancelation and can cancel noise up to 45db, an improvement over the 40db mark of the OnePlus Buds Pro. Each earbud will have three microphones for better noise reduction and voice clarity during calls. Another new addition is support for Spatial Audio, a feature not available on the original. It will also have support for LHDC 4.0 codec.

The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will have an advertised battery life of up to 6 hours on a single charge with ANC turned on. This goes up to 22 hours with the charging case. With ANC turned off, the OnePlus Buds 2 Pro will last up to 9 hours and a total of 38 hours with the charging case. The earbuds will support fast wired charging and also support Qi wireless charging. They will connect via Bluetooth 5.2, and like their predecessor, the OnePlus Buds 2 Pro should support both Android and iOS devices.

It has also been reported that the new buds will have support for Google Fast Pair. There is no info on how much they'll cost, and while OnePlus may retain the $149 launch price of the current model, there is a chance the new ones may cost a bit more due to an increase in the cost of components.
