EDITOR'S NOTE: This article is for Wordle answer #442; the September 5th Wordle answer is available now.
Wordle has continued to keep players interested in solving its once-a-day puzzle all throughout 2022, and today's puzzle is just as engaging as the early days of the game. Every day a new five-letter word is presented to players, and every day thousands of people start their day solving that word. The incredibly fast rise of Wordle is a fascinating story, from its start as a simple game created by software engineer Josh Wardle to play with his wife, to its million-dollar purchase by The New York Times. The game has lasted through its initial social media boom and is still played by many today.
Its popularity grew so fast that there were even multiple copycats that tried to hop on the Wordle train. Some were wholly original games that simply took the once-a-day nature of Wordle, while others were complete rip-offs that attempted to capitalize on the Wordle name. Despite all this, the original game is still one of the most popular and even has a physical board game version coming soon from Hasbro.

Today's Wordle Answer (September 4th #442)
The August 4th Wordle answer is INTER.
As a verb, INTER generally means placing a corpse in a grave, or tomb. Could be a little early for the upcoming spooky season, but if Christmas can start in November, Halloween can start in September. For our starting Wordle word today we used IRATE, this is our standard first word, and it was the perfect beginning to this easy-win for us. There were four correct letters in this starting word, 'I' was in the correct position and 'R', 'T', and 'E' were incorrectly placed. The only letter that didn't make it was the 'A'.
With so many hints in the first guess, there really weren't a lot of options to choose from going forward, and the first assumption was that today's Wordle answer will end in 'ER'. Thinking about what words start with 'I' and end with 'ER' we had about three choices, INNER, INTER, or INKER. Luckily we went with the correct answer and scored a solid Wordle win-in-two with INTER.
