Despite a large number of words with similar suffixes, the daily word today can easily be worked out within the six guesses provided by the game. Today's answer does not have an overly saturated number of words with the same suffix, like Wordle answers ending in 'ING' or 'ED', but there are enough similar styles that could cause a few wasted guesses.

Today's Wordle Answer (August 7th #414)

Wordle August 7th 414 Attempt

The August 7th Wordle answer is SMEAR.

For our Wordle game today we used our standard starting word, IRATE. This provided three letters in incorrect places, 'R', 'A', and 'E'. For our second guess, we mixed them up a bit and tried RAGED which didn't add anything new except more incorrect places for each letter. Our third guess was a bit of a mistake since we placed the 'A' in an already proven incorrect spot, we tried PEARS. At least this did provide the new letter 'S' and really started nailing down which letters need to go where. For our fourth guess we went with ESKAR, this locked in the 'AR' at the end and left only one possible location for the 'E' and the 'S'. There are a few words that this could be and with only two guesses left on today's game, we tried SWEAR, which was wrong. Going back and forth between SHEAR and SMEAR, we knew we had to make a choice and luckily we chose correctly and got a Wordle win-in-six with SMEAR.
