A new multiplayer mode has the Minecraft community excited, as Minecraft Manhunt begins to gain traction as one of the more watchable iterations of competitive, fan-driven multiplayer modes in the popular title. Minecraft's community is primarily known for its creativity outside of game mode restrictions, with players making waves for spending years of their time - and exhibiting an incredible talent for design - in recreating popular landmarks, worlds from fantasy properties, and more in the game's expansive creation suite.

The Minecraft community has been especially active recently, with a split between competition-oriented achievements and searches for some of the game's biggest secrets. For the former, a Minecraft player recently uploaded footage of themselves beating Minecraft survival mode with only a piano as their controller, an admittedly atonal accomplishment that nevertheless impresses - even if the mute button is needed occasionally during especially frantic moments. Some dedicated Minecraft players also recently unearthed the game's original title screen world seed, something that was thought impossible given the millions of permutations possible in Minecraft's world generation system. Once this group decided to do it, however, it took them a little over a month to achieve, illustrating just how impressive the Minecraft community is.

Now, thanks to a report from Game Rant detailing some of the game mode's features, the community has also generated one of the best multiplayer Minecraft experiences in recent memory with Minecraft Manhunt. Despite borrowing its name from a much grislier video game franchiseMinecraft Manhunt is still a family-friendly endeavor, though its difficulty makes it something that only veterans should attempt. Minecraft Manhunt boils down to a three-versus-one multiplayer mode that sees one player tasked with completing the game by beating the Ender Dragon with only one life. The other three players exist solely to make that as hard as possible for the player with one life, and their job is simply to prevent the one being hunted from reaching the end - with infinite lives at their disposal to do so. Here's a video from Dream, the YouTube creator who invented the mode, detailing how it plays out:

As those familiar with Minecraft can see, Minecraft Manhunt is incredibly skill-testing, with the odds stacked against the player on their own in a way that makes it seem nearly impossible. It's also some of the most watchable multiplayer Minecraft content in recent memory, though, providing highs and lows that usually come with more frenetic and flashy titles like Fortnite.

Is Minecraft Manhunt here to stay? That's a difficult question to answer given how new it is for the community. It's currently one of the most talked about fan creations in the game, though, and Dream's video has nearly 2 million views at time of writing. It's clear Dream has at least provided the community with an amazing Minecraft multiplayer mode - and with a lot of potential to refine how the Minecraft Manhunt plays out, there's every chance this becomes a fixture among Minecraft content creators moving forward.
