All eyes are on Johnny Depp’s career now that the Depp-Heard trial has come to an end, and here’s what his next movie is. Johnny Depp is one of the most versatile actors of his generation, and his career in the film industry began in 1984 when he played Glen Lantz in Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street. Deep’s career got a major boost when he starred in the TV series 21 Jump Street as Officer Tom Hanson from 1987 to 1990, and his popularity on the big screen grew when he played Wade Walker in the teen musical Cry-Baby.

Depp’s next project was Tim Burton’s fantasy romance Edward Scissorhands, which marked the first of many collaborations between them. Depp’s roles in Burton’s projects not only made him more popular with the audience but also allowed him to show his range, and his name became synonymous with eccentric and dark characters, such as Ichabod Crane, Willy Wonka, and Sweeney Todd. Depp has also earned the praise of critics with roles outside the unique world of Tim Burton, most notably Gilbert Grape in the drama What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Joe Pistone in the biographical crime movie Donnie Brasco, and (of course) Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, which went on to become his most famous role.

Even though Depp’s legal issues have slowed down his career in recent years, either by recasting him or studios reportedly delaying the release of his movies, Depp already has one project coming up in the near future: Jeanne Du Barry, a period film, and here’s what you need to know about it and any future projects in Johnny Depp’s career.

Is Johnny Depp Returning To Pirates Of The Caribbean?

Pirates of the caribbean Jack Sparrow Return Is Impossible

As mentioned above, Captain Jack Sparrow is one of Johnny Depp’s most popular roles, and he played this peculiar pirate in all movies of the Pirates of the Caribbean saga so far. Although the quality and popularity of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series has decreased over the years, Disney is still planning to expand this successful franchise with a sixth movie and a spin-off movie, the latter with Margot Robbie attached to star. The sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie was confirmed to happen in 2017 by producer Jerry Bruckheimer, with Kaya Scodelario sharing she was contractually signed to return for a sixth movie. However, in 2021, Disney revealed that it would not cast Johnny Depp in new Pirates of the Caribbean movies, this as his legal battle with Amber Heard got more complicated, though the studio said they were looking to explore new storylines.

Jack Sparrow being left out of Pirates of the Caribbean 6 draw a lot of criticism from fans of the saga, mostly as Sparrow wasn’t given a proper ending in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Jack Sparrow’s future in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga got more complicated when, during the defamation trial against Amber Heard, Depp stated he wouldn’t work with Disney again. At the time of writing, Johnny Depp isn’t returning to Pirates of the Caribbean, as neither Disney nor Depp are open to working together again, and the studio is looking to explore new storylines separate from Captain Jack Sparrow.
