An insane What If...? deepfake shows how close the animated Thor matches Chris Hemsworth by putting the actor right into the show. What If...? represents major first for the MCU as it takes the franchise into animation. The Disney+ series, which is entering its final two weeks of season 1, imagines different alternate scenarios within the Marvel universe. From Peggy Carter taking the super-soldier serum to Doctor Strange choosing a darker path, it seems that no idea is too outlandish for What If...?.

Last week's episode 7 centered on a very different version of Thor. Voiced by Hemsworth, What If...?'s variant of the character grew up as an only child. As a result, Thor became far more spoiled and immature. What If...? episode 7 was perhaps the most lighthearted installment of the season, and it has sparked some debate online over whether it handled Thor's new characterization well. Still, few can say it wasn't fun, and it was wonderful hearing Hemsworth play Thor once again. He only supplied his voice for What If...?, though a new video imagines a show where he took things a step further.

Created and shared online by stryder HD, a What If...? deepfake puts Hemsworth's likeness into the animated series. It's definitely jarring to see a more realistic face on an animated body, but the deepfake also hammers home just how accurate What If...?'s Thor animation is. The original version just lacks some of the finer details of Hemsworth's face, like the creases beneath his eyes and between his eyebrows. Check it out below.

What If...?'s animation style has sparked some debate among fans, as not everyone enjoys the cel-shading used on the show. As strange as it can be at times, it's definitely a more natural animated look than deepfakes are. Still, this video is an interesting way to combine live-action with What If...?'s now typical style. Like all deepfakes, it's bound to leave some mixed impressions on fans.

Hemsworth will return to the realm of live-action for his next MCU project, 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder. He's also likely to be heard in the final two episodes of What If...? season 1, since the end of episode 7 heralded the arrival of a major threat to his universe. In other words, Marvel fans will be seeing a lot of Thor in the future. Where he might go after Thor: Love and Thunder remains to be seen, though Hemsworth has said it won't be his last movie. Fans will just have to wait and see what comes next.
