Frogs are a new passive mob that will be introduced into Minecraft with The Wild Update. While no exact date has been announced, version 1.19 of the game's Java Edition is expected to release sometime in 2022. The update will revamp the Swamp biome and add a variant biome called the Mangrove Swamp. Fans can naturally encounter these animals while traveling through either location. Like other passive mobs in the game, players can breed the Frogs with their favorite food to create Tadpoles.
During MineCon Live 2019, the improvements to the Swamp biome were announced, along with the new creatures. Fans will also be able to randomly find treasure boats and Mangrove Trees. Last year at Minecraft Live 2021, further details and the look of the in-game Frog models were revealed. The mob does not drop any materials upon death and only grants 1-3 experience points when killed by a player. In previous beta versions of the Bedrock Edition, Frogs could be fed seagrass.
In the current experimental phase, the favorite food of this new passive mob is a slimeball. By feeding two adult Frogs slimeballs, they will enter Love Mode. Like Turtles, one amphibian will lay a Frogspawn on a water tile, but only if there is air above it. After some time, Tadpoles will hatch in groups of two to five. Frogs will follow players that hold a slimeball or when attached to a lead, similar to breeding Horses in Minecraft. This is important for a new method of gathering slimeballs in the game.
Minecraft Frogs Eat Slimeballs That Drop From Slimes
Frogs will attack Slimes with their tongues, instantly despawning them and dropping slimeballs. Players can attach multiple leads to a group of amphibians and walk around killing these mobs. Depending on the size of the Slime, more slimeballs will drop. Players can gather additional materials with a Looting enchantment on a weapon, but only if they get the finishing blow. Rarely, baby Pandas will sneeze out extra slimeballs for fans to collect as well. Slimes spawn underground and in the game's Swamp biome. Occasionally Traders will also offer slimeballs for a price of four emeralds.
One of the most anticipated improvements to the game's world comes in the frog-loaded Wild Update for Minecraft. Fans have been waiting years for the Swamp to be expanded. The addition of Mangrove Trees will allow for more creativity in designs. The introduction of Frogs will make the Swamp biome feel more alive. Passive mobs are a wonderful part of the game's ecosystem and offer a new way for players to interact with the world of Minecraft.
