The Bachelorette co-lead Gabby Windey has been very frank about her estranged relationship with her mother. When she first competed on The Bachelor season 26 with Clayton Echard, she opened up to him about how she no longer speaks to her mom, and how that has affected her life. Now, as she tries to find love on The Bachelorette, she has also been candid with the men competing for her heart. Here is all that the 31-year-old ICU nurse has said about her problems with her mom.

When first competing for Clayton's heart on The Bachelor, Gabby brought up the fact that she had a very close relationship with her father and her grandpa John, but shared that she's been estranged from her mother for a long time. She didn't go into much detail about her relationship with her mom. However, as one of the co-leads on The Bachelorette this season, she has been more vocal about what occurred between the two of them. During a one-on-one date with Jason Alabaster, she discussed the reasons why she doesn't have a relationship with her mother Rosemary anymore.

According to US Weekly, during the date, she dug deep with Jason, stating, "My mom and I are estranged. She didn’t have the capacity to kind of, like, love me as a kid. And she was, like, really quick to take away love. Like, ‘Oh, if you don’t do this and that, you’ll have to go live with your dad." She also mentioned during the date that she never wanted to lose her mother. The Bachelorette said that therapy has helped her a lot, making it easier for her to overcome everything that she has gone through in life.

After Gabby finished speaking about her mother, Jason stated that he has also been in therapy due to prior anxiety issues, and added that talking to a therapist had helped him a lot. This mental health topic was praised a lot by the viewers, who stated that it was beautiful to see therapy discussed on national television. Jason did get a rose after the pair shared those serious thoughts with one another, advancing him to next week.

Despite being concerned about the fact that she has a lot of baggage due to her strained relationship with her mother, many of the guys competing for her heart have made it clear that they are pursuing her because of the person that she is. Gabby was afraid that she would feel unlovable. However, it now seems that The Bachelorette star is happy, and is hopeful that she will find love on The Bachelorette. If viewers want to see if she finds a perfect match, they will just have to tune into the season as it airs.
