Evan Rachel Wood shares details about her new character in Westworld season 4. Based on Michael Crichton's film of the same name, the HBO television series was created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Westworld stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Luke Hemsworth, Angela Sarafyan, and Ed Harris. The series premiered in 2016 to largely positive reviews.

Westworld begins similarly to the original film, set in the near future in an adult amusement park populated by android hosts programmed to fulfill the guests' every desire. Unlike Crichton's version, the story expands past the amusement park and into the real world in Westworld season 3. As some of the sentient hosts managed to escape the park and live among the humans, they uncover a new threat from the company Incite, which is using AI to control behavior. Westworld season 3 ended with Wood's character Dolores coming to a tragic end when she dies trying to stop Incite.

Wood's Dolores may be dead, but the actor will be returning for Westworld season 4 in a new role. Deadline reports that Wood shares some of the details for her new character while appearing at the ATX Festival this past week with Westworld co-creator Joy. According to Wood and Joy, the new character named Christina lives with her roommate in a city that looks like New York and is trying to make it as a writer. Wood describes Christina as a normal woman who looks like Wood and that "nothing ever happens to." Read all of Wood's description of Christina below:

She’s a normal woman living in a big city just trying to make it as a writer. Nothing ever happens to her, really. I think that’s all I can say… I was told that Dolores was meeting her rather tragic end in Season 3, so I had some convos with [co-creator] Jonathan [Nolan] and Lisa at the time about what that meant. They said, ‘Yeah, you’ll be back this season and you’ll look a lot like Evan Rachel Wood,' but I’m not me.

Dolores and Teddy in Westworld Season 2

Of course, both Wood and Joy were purposefully vague to avoid giving away any twists in the new season, but it seems unlikely that Christina will remain normal for long. Still, Deadline reports only one more detail: reportedly, Christina will go on a date with a man who looks like former Westworld star James Marsden, who also returns for season 4. Marsden had left the show after his character Teddy's death in Westworld season 2, but no details about his new role in season 4 have been revealed yet.

While the information shared by Wood reveals very little about season 4's overall plot, it is interesting that Wood and Marsden's characters are again romantically involved in some way. There are certain implications of bringing the two together outside of the park, considering Westworld's broad exploration of human behavioral patterns. Perhaps, Westworld season 4 will uncover another layer of the hosts' existence.
