Wesley Snipes is set to produce and star in the upcoming action thriller Payline for Dawn’s Light Media and Maandi House Studios (MHS) for a summer 2020 release. The film will see Snipes play his first villain role in over 20 years since he starred opposite Sylvestor Stallone in 1993’s Demolition Man.
Written by Rob Robol and Jay S. Boy, the script centers on a small-town casino that turns into a battleground after two groups of criminals attempt to rob it on the same night. It is being described as Ocean’s 11 meets Free Fire.
Allan Ungar, best known for Nathan Fillion’s Uncharted fan film, will produce alongside Richard Switzer and Jason Cherubini of Dawn’s Light. Snipes and Alexander Ferguson will serve as executive producers.
“We at Maandi House Studios along with our sister companies and strategic partners are extremely excited to be working with Dawns Light Media on the kind of action film not seen in years” Snipes said. “This is a vehicle to demonstrate the next generation of indie-film making in a 5G powered world. It is our goal to show how a 100% Certified Renewable Energy film production can show love for the environment, community and still produce a kick-ass popcorn movie.”
Maandi House Studios, a Next-Gen digital media content manufacturer with multi-picture deals at WWE Studios and NBC/Universal, is also deploying Project Action Star for digital TV as well as a sports biopic based on a larger than life Puerto Rican boxing champion for mid 2020 release.
Snipes will next be seen starring alongside Eddie Murphy in the Netflix comedy film” Dolemite is My Name”, as well as the RZA directed thriller “Cut Throat City”. With leading roles in over 60 films, he is best known for Marvel’s Blade trilogy, Demolition Man, White Men Can’t Jump as well as the crime drama New Jack City.
