Werewolf By Night Cast & Character Guide

Several new characters join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of the talented Werewolf by Night cast. Phase 4 of the MCU has spent a lot of time introducing new characters that immediately become important pieces to the larger franchise. After giving Shang-Chi and the Eternals solo movies and Moon Knight and She-Hulk solo Disney+ shows, Marvel Studios returns with its first Disney+ Special. Developed by composer and director Michael Giacchino, Werewolf by Night is a foray into Marvel's supernatural world and horror.

Doctor Strange and Moon Knight have helped introduce the supernatural side of the MCU, but Werewolf by Night is fully set in this realm. The special is almost entirely in black and white to emulate the horror movies from the 1930s and 1940s that inspired it. The story revolves around a group of skilled hunters who descend upon the Bloodstone Mansion to hunt a powerful creature and win the fabled Bloodstone. It is through this journey that Werewolf by Night's new characters take center stage and bring some big cast members to the MCU.

Gael García Bernal leads Werewolf by Night's cast as Jack Russell, also known as the Werewolf by Night. The character debuted in Marvel Comics in 1972's Marvel Spotlight #2 and is one of the most prominent supernatural Marvel characters. The version of Jack Russell in Werewolf by Night that Gael García Bernal plays is a kind man with a dark secret who becomes a raging beast during full moons. Viewers could recognize Gael García Bernal from several of his more notable projects, including Y tu mamá también, Mozart in the Jungle, and M. Night Shyamalan's Old. He also voiced Héctor in Pixar's Coco.

Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone

Laura Donnelly is a key part of the cast as another new Werewolf by Night character Elsa Bloodstone. She debuted in Marvel Comics in 2001's Bloodstone #1 and is regarded as one of Marvel's best vampire hunters. Elsa Bloodstone in Werewolf by Night returns to her family's estate to reclaim the Bloodstone after her father's death. Viewers are likely to recognize Laura Donnelly from her roles as Jenny Fraser in Outlander and Amalia True in The Nevers.

Werewolf by Night's cast also includes Harriet Sandom Harris as Verussa Bloodstone. She helped train Elsa as a child and is an original character created for the MCU. Verussa Bloodstone is the leader of the monster hunting cult hosting the event. Harriet Snadom Harris joins Werewolf by Night's cast after memorable performances as Ellen Buckman in Addams Family Values, Bebe Glazer in Frasier, Felicia Tilman in Desperate Housewives, and an Emmy-nominated role in Hacks season 2.

Kirk R. Thatcher as Jovan: A hunter with 57 confirmed kills and a big battle axe, Jovan is played by Star Trek: Picard's Kirk R. Thatcher.

Eugenie Bondurant as Azarel: A hunter dressed in all white with 37 confirmed kills, Azarel is played by The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It's Eugenie Bondurant.

Leonardo Nam as Liorn: Werewolf by Night's cast includes Westworld actor Leonardo Nam as Liorn, a hunter with black face markings with 43 confirmed kills.

Daniel J. Watts as Barasso: The hunter with a scar on his head and 26 confirmed kills, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Daniel J. Watts plays Barasso.

Al Hamacher as Billy Swan: The Bloodstone's servant Billy Swan is played by Cobra Kai's Al Hamacher.

Carey Jones & Jeffrey Ford as Man-Thing: After playing Black Krrsantan in The Book of Boba Fett, Carey Jones plays Man-Thing in Werewolf by Night's cast. The special's editor Jeffrey Ford provides additional vocalizations.

Rick Wasserman as Narrator: Prolific voice actor Rick Wasserman who voiced Thor in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes narrates the MCU Special's opening.

Richard Dixon as Ulysses Bloodstone: Taboo actor Richard Dixon voices Ulysses Bloodstone in Werewolf by Night's cast.
