Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for Werewolf by Night!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe might have helped lay the foundation for Canada's Avengers team, Alpha Flight, thanks to Werewolf by Night. The Avengers have acted as the MCU's main superteam ever since they first assembled in 2012. Marvel Studios has brought the Guardians of the Galaxy, Eternals, the Illuminati, and other groupings of heroes together since then, but the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame has left the MCU in a position to add even more teams. This will eventually include the Fantastic 4 and X-Men, but Werewolf by Night teases a way for Canada's Avengers team to exist in the MCU.

During the opening minutes of Werewolf by Night, old illustrations show some previous monster-fighting adventures involving the Bloodstone weapon. One of them shows Ulysses Bloodstone fighting a sasquatch in British Columbia, confirming that the mythical beasts do exist in the MCU. This gives Werewolf by Night a loose connection to Alpha Flight, a Canadian superhero team that includes a hero named Sasquatch. His real name is Walter Langkowski, but he takes the name Sasquatch after his superhero transformation takes place. Sasquatch is not an actual mythical beast, as his powers instead originate from gamma radiation. However, there is a point in the comics where a real sasquatch is mistaken to be Sasquatch and becomes a member of Alpha Flight.

Sasquatch & Alpha Flight Can Continue The MCU’s Team Trend

Alpha Flight in an X-Men Comic

Werewolf by Night's possible Alpha Flight tease continues Phase 4's MCU trend of setting up different teams after Avengers: Endgame. Marvel Studios has officially confirmed that the Thunderbolts and Fantastic 4 are on the way. There have also been plenty of teases for the Young Avengers, West Coast Avengers, and Midnight Sons teams to form. Meanwhile, speculation suggests the Illuminati, Ultimates, and more will join the main MCU timeline before too long. It would not be too surprising if Alpha Flight becomes part of the MCU's world-building to establish more teams.

Looking at the new Avengers-style teams the MCU is building, it is clear how each of them would be unique. This includes establishing teams of heroes in various countries and continents. Alpha Flight would be a continuation of this mission to add more global superheroes, as the team is based out of Canada. As the top tier of a program that includes beginning in Gamma Flight and leveling up to Beta Flight before joining the main team, Alpha Flight could help bring Sasquatch and his various teammates like Puck, Snowbird, Guardian, and Northstar to the MCU. It's also worth noting that Wolverine has been part of Alpha Flight too.

Where Alpha Flight Can Appear In MCU Phase 5

Marvel Studios could introduce Alpha Flight in a number of different ways. It was once a very popular theory that The Marvels would introduce the Canadian Avengers, but that seems less likely based on how the sequel's story and cast took shape. There is one potentially fun place for Alpha Flight to appear in MCU Phase 5: Deadpool 3. This is not because Alpha Flight and Deadpool have a strong comic history. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine return in Deadpool 3 could help explain Alpha Flight's involvement if the team attempts to recruit him. But, since Ryan Reynolds is Canadian, he might want to give his home country in real life a fictional super team of its own after Werewolf by Night.
