Kim and Barry Plath from Welcome to Plathville never considered having strong social media presences, which fits with their strict household rules. The two Baby Boomers seem perfectly content to live simple lives with little to no access to technology. For the most part, Kim and Barry have kept themselves off of Instagram, as they seemingly attempt to keep some aspects of their lives private.

The parents never allowed their nine children to watch TV, use computers, or eat sugar. At the same time, as young people, Barry and Kim experienced all that the real world had to offer. However, they didn't want their children to follow in their footsteps when it came to sex, drugs, and rock and roll. As the older children have matured, they have rebelled against Kim and Barry's restrictions, which has made it hard to keep them under parental control. Welcome to Plathville season 4 has shown Barry and Kim heading towards a divorce. However, most of their private life has still been kept a secret.

Even though Kim and Barry are both trying to embrace new phases of their lives, the former couple has yet to join Instagram or Twitter. It is safe to assume that not many viewers would care about their "stream of consciousness" thoughts on Twitter, but a profile on Instagram could have helped to show their side of certain stories. Kim does have a personal Facebook, but it is unclear if she even runs it. The last time that Kim posted was in 2019, way before the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic happened, and her marriage issues became common knowledge.

A number of the older Plath children have social media accounts. Moriah, Isaac, Ethan, Lydia, and Micah Plath all post regularly about their life, to keep fans updated on their adventures. Welcome to Plathville fans were most surprised that Lydia was given permission to post about her life, since she still lives under Kim and Barry's roof. Now that Kim and Barry are filing for divorce, fans are curious as to whether Kim will start an online dating profile.

The current season of Welcome to Plathville has shown Kim walking away from her 24-year marriage. Instead of cooking and teaching her children, the mother of nine has decided to open up her own dance studio in Cairo, GA. The former FSU student is looking forward to turning over a new leaf as a single mother. For now, it looks like Kim and Barry are happy to stay off of social media, and keep fans guessing about their day-to-day life.
