When TLC dived into the world of the Plath family in Welcome to Plathville, audiences were immediately hooked. Fans were shocked to watch the strict, religious family struggle to stay together as the young adult children began venturing beyond the borders of their remote South Georgia family farm. That being said, over the course of season two, many fans have begun picking at the show for being somewhat "off." Across social media, many viewers are now saying the show is completely fake, and even theorize the Plath family is just doing it for fame and money.

Back in 2019, fans were introduced to the Plath Family. Barry and Kim Plath have nine children in total who have been completely shielded from the outside world. Their lifestyle is so extreme that the children have never had soda, watched TV, or participated in many other common American pastimes. In season two, viewers were surprised when Ethan Plath's marriage to Olivia paved the way for his siblings, Micah and Moriah, to move off the family farm. The Plath family was basically split in two, with Barry and Kim exercising their control over their younger children while the older children rebelled against their parents' strict rules.

Recently, fans have claimed the family tension and drama playing out on screen might be completely fabricated. According to Distractify, "The Plath Family home on the show is listed on Airbnb as a vacation rental." Other viewers have also pointed to the new home Barry and Kim purchased with their TLC money as a troubling sign. The house is right around the corner from Walmart, Taco Bell, and other modern conveniences that go against everything the family claims they stand for. While it's obvious that reality television is often scripted or plays up certain storylines, many fans feel the family themselves are creating the charade.

Other fans have pointed out an even more glaring clue that the entire Plath family could be lying. For such a strictly religious and conservative family, why would they allow TLC to create a reality TV show around their lives? Some theories claim Kim and Barry already understand their children will choose another way of life and now they want to cash in. Even more convincing, other viewers feel everything in the show is real, but is being played up by producers and the family for the sake of the show.

Regardless, as time drags on. many are finding it harder and harder to buy into the concept of the program and are beginning to whether wonder there will be another season. As the family finds more fame, the show begins to lose more credibility. Not only that, but the older children have already left home and are determined to separate their lifestyles from their parents. Only time will tell how things turn out for the Plath family and their lucrative business venture, Welcome To Plathville.
