Many fans know that the kids in Welcome to Plathville are musically talented, but some may not know that the entire Plath family used to be in a band. The band was led by Kim and Barry Plath, with the kids all playing different instruments and showcasing their music at concert halls, as well as on their YouTube channel. Here's everything to know about the Plath family's band and the music they performed.

Welcome to Plathville follows the Plath parents and their nine children, though the eldest daughter, Hosanna Plath, does not appear on the show. The parents raised their children in a very conservative household, homeschooling their kids and isolating them from everyone outside of the family. The Plath kids were controlled by their parents, were not raised with much technology, and only saw other kids their own age when they went to church. The Plath kids have said they spent much of their childhood outdoors, working on their large farm and playing with their animals.

Other than abiding by the strict rules set by the Plath parents, the kids also seemed to be forced into a family band. Matriarch Kim Plath is musically inclined, as she used to be a ballet dancer and still plays the cello. As part of their homeschooling education, all nine of the Plath children learned to play different instruments and sing. The younger kids played instruments like guitars and violins, while Ethan Plath played the accordion and eldest sister Hosanna Plath played the banjo.

The Plath family has a YouTube channel that showcases their band, though they have not posted in three years. A now-defunct website also boasts CDs and a concert schedule. The family largely performed gospel music, though they did sing one song from The Sound of Musicthe popular "Do Re Mi." Many people have commented on the posts, some with support for the family and others saying the kids do not look happy or seem to enjoy performing.

Many fans already believe Welcome to Plathville is mostly fake and exaggerated for the drama, and some fans think the band was just Kim and Barry's first attempt at getting famous. The family has not all performed together in several years. Now, four of the nine kids have moved out of their family home. Moriah is interested in continuing to pursue a music career, as she sings, writes her own music, and plays the guitar. She is working to perform at her first gig and enlisted the help of her older brother, Micah, and her sister-in-law Olivia to be in her new band. This might cause some drama on Welcome to Plathville if Moriah's parents try to come to their shows since Olivia does not feel welcome in the family.
