TLC fans were not surprised to learn Olivia Plath from Welcome to Plathville is estranged from her younger sister. In fact, she does not talk to her whole family.

The first season of Welcome To Plathville showed the oldest Plath son, Ethan, struggling to find a happy medium between the demands of his wife, Olivia, and his own parents. Olivia has tried her best to blend in with the large family, but both Kim and Barry Plath found her to be a bad influence. Kim openly admitted she feared Olivia would have a negative impact on her children.

It has come to light that Lydia agreed to partake in an interview talking about her fundamental upbringing and how she personally escaped from that lifestyle. But evidently, Olivia reached out to the interviewer and asked them not to go through with it. She revealed she and her sister had been estranged for years, and no longer had any form of a relationship. Olivia let it be known that she wanted to protect her family from the bad publicity, explaining that the rest of her family were very private people. The TLC personality felt Lydia would exploit and embarrass her family. In the end, Lydia agreed not to do the interview. The younger sister made it clear she just wanted to tell her side of the story, but agreed that it may not have been the right time to do so.

Fans are currently watching Oliva struggle in her marriage to Ethan. The couple admitted they married young because they were tired of being told how to court and were only allowed to talk on the phone for one hour every three months. The duo recently celebrated July 4 on their show and embraced their newfound freedom from their families. As of now, they have no plans to reconcile with the Plaths, who they feel tried to ruin their marriage.
