Although Olivia Plath brings a fair amount of drama to Welcome to Plathville, her many talents and successful career mean she will be able to support herself and Ethan without TV cameras following them around, should she ever decide to leave the show. Despite her love for her husband Ethan, and their shared sheltered upbringing, Olivia struggles to find common ground with her in-laws. She didn't even wear her wedding ring in season two of the series, as her mother-in-law was so involved in picking it out.

Olivia’s husband, Ethan, is not the first to get married and move away from the Plath family. The second oldest child, Hosanna, married and moved to Ohio. Micah Plath moved out to pursue a career in modeling. Moriah Plath also left home and has expressed her desire to move past any anger she had about her overprotective upbringing. The recurring theme seems to be that the children feel their life of essentially hiding from the world on their family farm did not do them any good. Even if they do not want to live the societal norm, it isn’t healthy to live completely isolated from it.

Despite her similar upbringing to the rest of the Plath family, Olivia has found her way in this world. An avid photographer, she started her own traveling photography business. Her Instagram account is full of pictures from weddings she has worked across the country. She emphasizes that she wants to provide her clients with more than just photos. She says in one post, “I’m not selling a product, I’m selling an experience. An experience where my couple spends a lot of one-on-one time with me and has to completely trust me to make them feel relaxed…

Olivia is still working to find herself and express her voice. Being in the public eye is difficult, especially on a reality TV show where cameras are constantly in your face. Still, she manages to traverse the difficult situation and use it to her advantage, growing her business. She has a reported net worth of over $100,000 (via Stars Offline). Along with Ethan’s job of restoring old cars, the pair is able to support themselves independently from the rest of the Plath family.

Season three of Welcome to Plathville hasn’t officially been renewed yet. Season two ended with a big confrontation between Ethan and his parents, leaving their future relationship, as well as the relationship with his younger siblings, up in the air. Olivia is close to most of her family, so the couple can still get support from them. With their business success, they are at least able to be financially independent outside of whatever happens with the Plath family and their reality show.
