In the new season of Welcome to Plathville, Oliva Plath revealed that she and her husband, Ethan Plath, were headed down different paths in life and slowly drifting apart from one another. For the past three seasons, the couple has had a hard road with communication, but this could be the end. The TLC show features Barry and Kim Plath from Cairo, Georgia. The parents have raised their children in a strict moral household that included religion, no sugar and conservative clothing.

Even though Barry and Kim both went to college, they have sheltered all of their children from the so-called evils of the world, causing the older ones to finally rebel. The parents have never been fond of Olivia, and their differences put a rift between them and Ethan. During the season 2 finale, Ethan almost came to blows with his father, who forced the eldest Plath to walk way completely from his family.

During the season 3 premiere of the TLC reality series, Ethan shared that he was angry with his mother for using his siblings against him. Ethan has not seen his family in over a year because he felt his mother was trying to control what he and Oliva did with their lives. The new season started with Olivia and Ethan in front of the cameras six months after the fight, both looking teary-eyed. A producer could be heard telling the couple that they looked like they were in a good place after season 2, saying, "So what happened?" The couple sat stoically for a few minutes, with Ethan finally saying, "I honestly don't know that I can do this."

Olivia revealed that she had been away for a while working but hadn't spoken with her husband. According to the Welcome to Plathville star, her husband has been very angry since the altercation, and she felt he could benefit from therapy. Olivia shared that Ethan "processing that anger for the first time was kind of an awakening inside him." She went on to share that he would often use humor to brush off uncomfortable situations, but it wasn't working. Oliva revealed she told him he would have to go to therapy "in order to make this work."

Ethan was not a fan of his one and only session and told his wife he would not be returning. He shared in a confessional that the session was awkward, and he often thinks about the day he said goodbye to his family. He mentioned that he also thinks about the relationship he gave up with his younger siblings for his marriage, saying it upset him greatly. Ethan and viewers have felt that Kim used the children as leverage over her older son. It would be sad if Ethan gave up everything just for his marriage to fall apart. Welcome to Plathville fans hope that the couple can work out their issues sooner rather than later.

Welcome to Plathville airs Tuesday at 10pm on TLC.
