TLC's Welcome To Plathville star, Micah Plath, shared a rare childhood picture on Instagram last week. While fans cooed over Micah's adorable pre-model days, they also theorized what it may mean for his strained relationship with his parents, Barry and Kim Plath. Micah is the second-oldest son of the couple's nine total children.
He was raised in a conservative and religious family on their south Georgia farm. Barry and Kim Plath have mostly kept their children away from technology and the 21st-century world in hopes they'd grow up to carry on their conservative lifestyle. However, since the start of season 2, Micah, his younger sister Moriah, and older brother Ethan have chosen a different destiny. Ethan split off from the fundamentalist family and moved into a home with his new wife Olivia after they were married. Soon followed Moriah and Micah, who began to pursue a raunchy modeling career.
Recently, the 19-year-old Micah Plath posted a childhood photo on Instagram with the caption, "I have very few pics of my childhood but some friends stumbled across this one recently. I might have started modeling earlier than I thought?" Fans speculated why he might have few childhood photos. Some theorized his parent's anti-technology beliefs meant they rarely used cameras. Others thought that most of his childhood photos are probably at his parent's house which would mean limited access. The teenager's new modeling career is considered immoral by his parents and has caused tremendous tension in their relationship. Similar to his other estranged siblings, Micah hasn't had much contact with his parents, younger siblings, or their home.
Many fans were pointing out how similar he looks to his siblings. Micah himself replied, "we all looked alike when we were young, people had the hardest time telling us apart." Of course, those days may be well behind him as Micah blazes his own path. The 19-year-old has been taking advantage of his newfound freedom. As he develops his modeling career, he's also hinted at dating. Even in his post, he reveals that friends are around which would have been forbidden in his parent's home.
Unfortunately, Micah's relationship with his parents may never be mended. Whether he has access to his childhood photos or whether there are any at all is up for speculation. As for the new unraveling season, the oldest siblings seem to only be drifting further and further away from their parents who refuse to make amends or see their differences. Only time will tell how things play out in TLC's Welcome To Plathville.
