To many Welcome to Plathville viewers, Kim Plath often does not practice what she preaches, and this trait has caused issues for her that continue to this day. Kim has made it clear that she was not a fan of her son Ethan Plath's wife, Olivia Plath. Since then, the family has been on the outs, and it was all due to Kim's careless choice of words.
As many Welcome to Plathville fans would agree, Kim has been a bone of contention for four seasons. Kim and Barry Plath's strict family rules of no sugar and no TV wore their children down. None of the nine children were able to experience life on their own, even though their parents went to college and partied. Kim has been labeled a bully for making her children feel small. Barry has also been called out for belittling the kids.
During an earlier Welcome to Plathville season, Kim was caught talking about how Olivia was suffering from a "blind spot." The matriarch was referring to how she felt Olivia was dealing with demons, and had an evil spirit. It was interesting to note that Kim felt slighted after finding out that she wasn’t invited to Moriah Plath's concert. Kim shared that she didn't understand why Olivia would have set rules about whom she and Barry could see or not see. Kim's comment was ironic, as she seemed to have forgotten just how quickly she had set the same boundaries, when it came to Ethan seeing his own siblings.
Fans found it very telling that at the time, Kim secretly ignored her daughter's wishes, and parked in a hidden car. Kim's denial of her own faults has caused major issues for her in terms of her relationship with Olivia. Ethan's wife made the decision early on that she would not be told what to do by anyone, and Kim was no exception. When Kim made the "blind spot" comment, she ultimately wrote off Olivia's feelings.
Currently, Kim is navigating her way through her divorce with Barry. The couple decided to end their 24-year marriage after it became too stressful and unfulfilling. Many Welcome to Plathville fans feel that Kim may have cheated, but all can agree that she has come across as highly hypocritical. Kim now acts and dresses differently, even though she made all of her children obey and dress modestly. It is no wonder that Olivia has no respect for her mother-in-law, and won't forgive Kim for her comments all those years ago.
