Kim Plath from Welcome to Plathville is used to getting attention, even though it isn’t always positive. Her parenting style, behavior, and actions have led her to be painted as a villain. Now that the show is on season 4, fans have even more reasons to believe she is a narcissist.

Barry may be known as the patriarch of the Plath family, but it is clear that Kim is the one that makes most of the significant decisions. It may be possible she had good intentions when choosing to raise her children in a strict and conservative Christian home, but not everyone believes it to be true. Unfortunately, even if that was the case, it didn’t keep the Plath family from becoming divided. The way she has treated her kids has backfired and caused frustration and heartbreak for everyone involved.

Many fans took to Reddit to discuss why Kim seems more selfish than ever. Instead of preparing the Plath kids for the real world, Kim and Barry's goal was to shelter them from it. When Welcome To Plathville first debuted, a lot of the focus was on Kim and Barry's religion and some rules they had set for the kids. Now that the children are getting older and the eldest have moved out, the focus has shifted to where their lives are taking them. However, now the new season has Kim getting more screen time, and some viewers aren't too happy about it. Reddit user, Chocolatecakeat3am said, "OMG Kim is a major narcissist. The show isn't revolving around her anymore, so let's try and get it to be all about her again."

Welcome To Plathville season 4 started airing last week, and it already seems to be changing course, investing in Kim outside of being a mother. This abrupt change has fans thinking it is because Kim wanted the focus to be back on her. Some fans feel that Kim and Barry’s marriage issues aren’t legitimate and it's all fake for TV. With their problems seemingly coming out of nowhere is a red flag for some viewers. All of a sudden, Kim is heavily invested in her dance studio and is going against a lot of what she so strongly stood up for in previous seasons.

This leads viewers to wonder how much of Kim's personality is real and what is curated for TV. Kim was strict about what the kids listened to and what they wore, but none of it seems relevant anymore. Many fans feel that Kim is finding a way to redeem herself from all the backlash by changing entirely. Another Reddit user in the same thread, Bed_Bug815, said, "It's the fakest growth journey ever...no way she did this big 180 with her narcissism."

It's clear that viewers don't find the reality star's new change of heart and mindset genuine. Given Kim's sneaky behavior in the past, they don't feel like she can be trusted, and there is a motive behind her actions. Whether it is to gain more screen time on Welcome to Plathville or change her public image, only time will tell.
