In August 2020, Blumhouse and Amazon announced a horror anthology series entitled Welcome to the Blumhouse, so we've compiled all the available information for curious streamers. The project is being produced by Blumhouse Television, which is behind Marc Smerling's 2020 true crime series, A Wilderness of Error, and Ethan Hawke's miniseries, The Good Lord Bird.

Since 2012, Blumhouse Television has released a variety of productions to complement their massively popular feature films. The company's debut TV venture, The River, originally aired on ABC and was cancelled after one season. A few years later, Blumhouse landed a hit with HBO's The Jinx: The Life and Death of Robert Durst, and then produced HBO's hit miniseries Sharp Objects, an adaptation of Gillian Flynn's popular 2006 novel. Blumhouse Television has most recently produced The Purge series (based on the movie franchise) and Into the Dark, an ongoing horror anthology series on Hulu.

Blumhouse Television may be producing Welcome to the Blumhouse, but fans shouldn't expect a proper 10-episode series that aligns with other network formats. In fact, Jason Blum and company have something special planned for Amazon Prime subscribers which thematically connects to Halloween. The series won't be entirely focused on the holiday itself, but will rather explore relevant sociopolitical concepts through a variety of cinematic voices. Here's everything we know about Welcome to the Blumhouse.

Welcome To The Blumhouse Concepts and Directors

Black Box on Amazon Prime

Welcome to the Blumhouse is a horror anthology series, but the collective productions are feature-length movies rather than hour-long episodes. This is similar to Blumhouse's Into the Dark series on Hulu, which explores different holidays through a horror lens and releases monthly.

Directed by Veena Sud, The Lie follows two parents who cover up a murder committed by their teenage daughter. Sud produced the AMC series, The Killing, and directed the Quibi series, The Stranger.

The Black Box explores the experiences of a single father who seeks an experimental treatment after losing his wife (and memory) in a car accident. The Amazon Prime film marks the feature debut for Osei-Kuffour Jr., who previously helmed five short films between 2008 and 2015.

Based on the Audible production of the same name, Evil Eye focuses on a mother who believes that she has a unique connection to her daughter’s boyfriend. Priyanka Chopra Jonas will co-produce the Amazon Prime film.

Zu Quirke makes her feature directorial debut with Nocturne, a horror film about twins who attend an elite arts institution and become familiar with a mysterious notebook.
