Sometimes gameshows are simply irresistible. Whether it's watching other people embarrass themselves or learning trivia facts, they can all be fun to watch. Aside from the craziness that comes with many challenges in gameshows, some of them are just weird. In other words, some challenges are very eccentric. They can make viewers question who thinks of these challenges in the first place. Below are some of the weirdest gameshow challenges out there. Not all of them are still on TV today, but they are all worth remembering.

Worst Date Idea Ever

Any dating games how is bound to get weird. However, there comes a point where it's too weird to even fathom. On the show The 5th Wheel, two couples go out on a double date but these couples are not necessarily dating outside of the show. Then, a fifth person joins the two couples.

The gag is, this fifth person makes things very uncomfortable for the couples. The fifth person is usually extremely bold and provocative. All of the couples end up swapping with each other as they try to win each other over the fifth person. This whole concept is so strange for so many reasons other than the fact that usually nobody on the show ever knows each other.

Talk About Nerve-Racking

A lot of challenges on game shows are rather stressful because everyone wants to win. However, the show The Chair might be the most nerve-racking one yet. Contestants have to answer a bunch of multiple-choice questions from a chair. While they are answering, someone is keeping track of how high their heart rate is. Contestants who have a heart rate over a certain level lose points. The reason this is so challenging for some people is that they all experience jumpscares during the questions. Answering multiple-choice questions in stressful enough, so what's with the weird heart rate monitoring?

This Is Just Unfair

Not only is the American Gladiators in rather poor taste but it's strange. In this show, contestants compete in physical challenges against people who are way stronger than them. For example, many of the people they compete against are professional athletes or trainers.

This show is very weird considering how unfair it is. However, it's also a little messed up that it's based upon stronger people taking down weaker people, almost like how the Romans took down those in captivity for entertainment purposes.

The Most Expensive Team Wins

Normally, when people go to the food store, they try to not overspend. However, the show Supermarket Sweep does the exact opposite. Contestants on this show are split up into teams and they have a short time period to food shop.

Essentially, they have to throw as much food into their carts as possible, and the team with the most expensive assortment wins. Not only is this concept bizarre, but things get really weird in this show. Food is everywhere, and the contestants look like they are throwing food at each other the whole time.

Food Goes In Mouths

Contestants love receiving prizes after game shows. The prizes are likely the main reason they partake in game shows, to begin with. In the show Remote Control, contestants receive prizes in the middle of the game show, but not in the conventional sense. They must answer pop-culture questions, and each participant receives a snack in the middle of the game.

However, the host puts the snacks on top of their heads instead of handing it to them. Also, the host's mother's voice would randomly start talking to the contestants. Viewers probably ask themselves what is happening when watching.

Just Go Shopping

There is a lot that goes into the show Shop 'Til You Drop, but the show still existed at one point. In this show, real-life couples compete in challenges to earn points. The couple who earns the most points gets to pick out a prize in a mall. Seems straight forward right?

Well, the challenges are quite strange. At one point, a woman is shoving balloons into her husband's pants without them popping. Plus, the prizes they receive from the mall are very specific to the point system. There's a lot going on during this show, and the ideas of points and the challenges seem unrelated to the shopping aspect. Wouldn't it be easier to just go shopping the regular way?

Follow The Lip-Leader

It's always fun to lip-sync to favorite songs, but making an entire show out of it seems weird. Well, the show Lip Service does just this. Young contestants split up into teams and make up their own lip-syncing routines. At the end of the show, they have to perform with a DJ. The DJ speeds up and slows down the songs so the contestants have to match up to their lip-syncing no matter what. The contestants look weird, feel weird, and this whole show is simply weird, and it must be hard to judge someone's lip-syncing on top of all that.

Some of the most unlucky people are the ones who are contestants in the show Repo Games, and this is because the contestants almost always don't ever want to be in this gameshow, but they have no choice. What this show entails is someone showing up to people's houses and putting their car onto a tow truck.

These people can earn their cars back by correctly answering trivia questions. The people who don't answer correctly won't have a car anymore. Therefore, this show is essentially legalizing stealing cars using the excuse of it being for a show. Very odd.

Legends Of Weirdness

The show Legends Of The Hidden Temple was clearly invented by someone who hated history class in school. In this show, contestants have to make their way through physical challenges and answer questions to win prizes. However, the whole game is mythical, historical, and Indiana Jones-inspired.

There are many strange aspects of this game such as a fake Olmec that speaks. There is also so much to keep track of in this game such as animals, colors, team uniforms, weird voices everywhere, and made-up history and mythical facts. Just, why?

Really Disturbing

One of the challenges in the show Fear Factor should be just watching the show—that's how disturbing this show can become. The show brings a new group of contestants on it every week who have to compete in challenges—some really weird and disgusting challenges.

Some of these challenges include bobbing for cow hearts in cow blood and eating grounded up rats. The show was canceled because one of the challenges went way too far. Contestants faced the challenge of drinking a certain liquid that comes out of donkeys after they drink a lot of water and when they are aroused. Weird is an understatement when it comes to this show.
