Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: June 29, 2008

4. It would appear that Chris Carter already has his X-Files: I Want to Believe follow-up in production. The film, titled Fencewalker is currently shooting, apparently the film is a semi-autobiographical coming of age story that has no supernatural elements in the plot. However we all know that Carter likes to keep things secret, with plenty of disinformation.

Very little is known about the film but it is believed to star Natalie Dormer, Katie Cassidy, Xzibit (fresh from The X-Files), Derek Magyar and Mehcad Brooks.

Carter wrote the film several years ago and raised the financing himself - the film is currently without a distributor, but if The X-Files hits big expect that to change.

5. Hollywood loves a franchise, and darn it - not even poor box office can stop them! After the tanking of Hostel II, it looked like the series was finished, but now it would appear that Scott Spiegel has been hired to write and direct Hostel III, a second sequel to Eli Roth's very successful, but very poor horror hit. The film is expected to go straight-to -DVD

No word yet if Roth is involved in this new film, but I guess that at the very least he'll have a producing credit.
