New images have been released for the show Wednesday that give a closer look at Nevermore Academy. The upcoming horror-comedy Netflix series is based on Addams Family character Wednesday, played this time by Scream star Jenna Ortega. Wednesday was created by Smallville's Miles Millar and Alfred Gough with Tim Burton acting as a producer and director on the series.

Wednesday is a coming-of-age story following the title character after she is expelled from eight schools over a five-year period. Now a teenager, Wednesday has to enter a new private school, Nevermore Academy, where Gomez (Luis Guzmán) and Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) first met. While at her parents' alma mater, Wednesday also has to focus on solving a murder mystery along with the other obstacles of education. While the new series will offer its own spin on the Addams Family, there will be at least one tie to the '90s films with Wednesday actor Christina Ricci taking on a mystery role.

Two new images have been released by EW that give a better look at Nevermore Academy. They show off the macabre and gothic style all Addams Family projects have been known for incorporating. Both Wednesday's room and the outside quad of Nevermore Academy are featured in the newly released images. Check them out below:

The image of Wednesday and her roommate Enid shows a clear dichotomy between the two characters. The images also continue to prove how Ortega is the perfect casting for Wednesday Addams. A literal line has been drawn down the center of the room, as shown by the large circular window that displays color and darkness on either side. The quad of Nevermore Academy also prominently features a spooky-looking tree that properly sets the scene.

For those who enjoy Burton's work, Wednesday is the long-awaited return to the director's gothic roots. In addition to producing, the Batman filmmaker will be directing four of the eight episodes of Wednesday. He turned down the offer to direct The Addams Family in the early '90s due to scheduling conflicts with Batman Returns but finally gets to bring his unique and stylized touch to this world. From the new images that have been released, Burton's influence can immediately be felt on them. With either comedies like Pee-wee's Big Adventure or fantasy dramas like Edward Scissorhands, Burton has a distinct style that can always be identified. Even ahead of Wednesday's release, it's clear the director is a great fit for this particular project.
