Now that Xavier Thorpe has been thoroughly established as a good guy, Wednesday season 2 can dive deeper into his family history. Season 1 gave several subtle details about the Thorpes, like the fact that they have connections to Wednesday Addams' family and that Xavier's father is a famous psychic. However, with so much going on regarding the Hyde (and Wednesday's suspicion of Xavier), there wasn't much time to explore this deeper. Hopefully, Wednesday season 2 will change this.

Xavier Thorpe was introduced in Wednesday season 1 as the tragic artist of Nevermore Academy, and he took a fast interest in the school's newest student. They seemed to connect, especially after he saved Wednesday's life when Rowan Laslow tried to crush her with a gargoyle. However, after she began to suspect him of being the monstrous Hyde, things quickly deteriorated between them. Of course, he ended up being innocent, and Wednesday season 1 ended with the promise of a better season 2 relationship - which hopefully means a better background on Xavier's character.

Wednesday Season 2 Can Introduce Xavier’s Father

Xavier's father, Vincent Thorpe, was mentioned several times throughout Wednesday, season 1. He went to Nevermore at the same time as Principle Weems, Morticia and Gomez, and even Tyler Galpin's Hyde mother. It is implied that Xavier and his father have somewhat of a strained relationship, likely due to Vincent's busy schedule as a famous psychic. Over Parents' Weekend, when several of the students' parents were officially introduced, Vincent was notably absent. So, audiences are left knowing very little about his character.

Of course, it's unlikely that Xavier's father would be mentioned so much if there was no plan for him to appear. Therefore, Wednesday season 2 seems all the more likely to bring him on screen. This would add an exciting dynamic to Wednesday and Xavier's relationship, especially given Vincent's psychic abilities (not to mention Wednesday's and Xavier's). Additionally, the fact that Wednesday received threatening text messages at the end of Wednesday season 1 from a phone Xavier had gifted her has left many identifying Vincent Thorpe as a potential suspect.

Wednesday Season 2 Can Explore Xavier’s Family Connection With Wednesday

Xavier Thorpe in Wednesday season 1

After Xavier saved Wednesday's life in Wednesday season 1, he told her that he was only returning the favor since she had once saved his life when they were children at his godmother's funeral. He explained that this woman had been friends with Wednesday's grandmother and that the duo had spent their younger years together in Europe swindling the "rich and notorious." This detail was breezed over (since Wednesday had been reluctant to give Xavier much attention). However, it's far too delicious a tale not to return to in Wednesday season 2.

It's unclear which grandmother Xavier was referring to or what "swindling the rich and notorious" really meant. Perhaps, like Wednesday and Xavier, their friendly relatives were psychics and used their ability to con their way to wealth. If this were the case, it would be fun if both students could experience visions in Wednesday season 2 to witness their family connection firsthand. It would undoubtedly be a compelling way to develop their relationship, which seems more likely to happen with Tyler out of the picture.

Why Wednesday Season 1 Only Teased Xavier’s Family History

With so many tidbits dropped about Xavier's family history in Wednesday, season 1, it seems strange that the series didn't put more time into hashing out this story for audiences. However, since season 1 worked hard to make Xavier Wednesday's primary suspect, it wasn't the time to get into the nuances of their connection. Additionally, the Netflix series needed to make Tyler the more appealing romance prospect for Wednesday so that the impact of his big Hyde reveal would be even more jolting.

Now that Xavier is no longer a murder suspect in Wednesday season 2, and the ending of season 1 has established him as the most likely next date for the titular character, his background can be more fully explored. Xavier's father, his connection with Wednesday from their childhood, and the mysterious way his godmother did business in Europe with Wednesday's godmother can all contribute to making his character even better - just another thing to look forward to in Wednesday season 2.
