Wednesday season 2 should go international, according to Enid actor Emma Myers. In the playfully gloomy Netflix series, it's Myers who accounts for some of the sunny disposition. She plays Enid Sinclar, the cheery werewolf roommate of Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy. The duo was one of the highlights of the show's debut season, leading to plenty of discussions and support online. But as the massively successful teen drama prepares to return for its sophomore outing, Myers has revealed that she'd like to take an unexpected approach to the story.

In an interview with Variety, Myers was asked about some of what she'd like to see in Wednesday season 2. The actor has said that she'd like Jenna Ortega's lead character to go single in the upcoming episodes, and she adds in the quote below that she'd like for the Netflix hit to take an international lens that would allow Wednesday Addams to interact with outcasts from all over the world:

"Oh, I would really like to see Wednesday go somewhere international and interact with the international outcasts from different countries. I feel like that would be really fun. As far as theory-wise — I never had any theories about the show, and I wish I did. But I’ve read so many theories. And I would like to see who the stalker is."

How Wednesday Season 2 Can Go Overseas

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams

In a sense, Myers advocates turning Wednesday into a franchise. Though she doesn't mention where Ortega's character would come across the international outcasts, it seems likely to be the case that the important Nevermore Academy setting could play a role. It could be a situation of Wednesday leaning into the episodic nature of television by featuring an episode that takes a step back from the overall plot in order to tell a one-off story about students in another story. Or, owing to Netflix's overall strategy, the streaming service could commission an international adaptation of one of its biggest hits. In recent interviews, and when discussing a part of their overall approach, Netflix executives have talked about wanting to recreate the same stories globally.

They've already done as much with something like Money Heist, which has set up different international offshoots. But it would work even better with Wednesday. What it means to be an outcast, although universal in some aspects, it's culturally specific in others. There would be plenty of rich territories to explore, if any potential spinoffs were to happen. And, in any case, it's probably something that Netflix has already considered in the process of thinking of how to further capitalize on a truly impressive season 1 run.

But, in any sense, all the talk of spinoffs and off-shots could run the risk of misunderstanding why the streaming service ended up with such a hit in the first place. The show resonated, in a huge way, because of the performances of Ortega and Myers and the rest of the ensemble. The focus, for the moment, should be mainly on ensuring Wednesday season 2 continues the same trajectory.
