Jenna Ortega suggests which role Lady Gaga could play in Wednesday season 2. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar's YA supernatural comedy series about the titular gothic Addams Family daughter (Ortega) has proved to be a massive success for Netflix, becoming the second most-watched English language series on the service. While many aspects of the show are being universally celebrated, the show particularly captured the pop-culture zeitgeist when Wednesday Addams' dance from episode 104 went viral on TikTok after being remixed with Gaga's song "Bloody Mary." To the delight of many, Gaga herself participated in the trend, recreating the gothic dance in costume and leaving Ortega stunned with the acknowledgment of her work.In a new conversation with Variety, Ortega expressed how she was bowled over when Lady Gaga recreated her Wednesday dance. While discussing her reaction, Ortega commented on the possibility of Gaga joining her show.

As the actress suggested, if Gaga were ever to join Wednesday season 2, she would likely play an opposite and equally formidable force to her heroine, with the characters sharing a similar relationship as Wednesday had Christina Ricci's Miss Thornhill. Read what she said below:

“If Lady Gaga were to be a part of it, they’d have to be two monsters who understand each other.”

What Do We Know About Wednesday Season 2

Wednesday

While Wednesday season 1 managed to flesh all its character arcs satisfactorily by the finale, the last episode did include an explosive cliffhanger ending which saw a detained Tyler (Hunter Doohan) transform back into his Hyde form and escape captivity while he was being carried away from Jericho. Tyler's escape would inevitably factor into Wednesday season 2, which was renewed earlier this month. At the moment, other story details about Wednesday season 2 are unclear. Still, Gough and Millar have assured fans that they have a quite clear runway of how future seasons of the show will unfold, and preparation for the same is already underway.

While Gaga remains dream casting for Wednesday, the show needs to figure out its challenge of finding a worthy opponent for its morbid protagonist. After Larissa Weems' (Gwendoline Christie) death and Marilyn Thornhill / Laurel Gates' defeat in the Wednesday season 1 finale, nothing stands between the titular heroine and her defiant antics. This would change as more casting updates emerge from the show, although what direction the creators are pursuing to keep Wednesday's mischief in check remains unclear at this point.

One popular theory is Wednesday's mother, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), with whom she shares a strained relationship, could step in as the new headmistress for Nevermore. But there hasn't been any affirmation of such speculation from the creators' side thus far. Gough did acknowledge that Wednesday season 2 would include more Addams Family scenes, but the narrative would remain largely focused on their teenage daughter and her escapades at Nevermore. Considering this, it is more likely that Wednesday season 2 could continue exploring the Wednesday-Morticia arc in the background while focusing on a different villain and a new mystery at the core. That said, while Gaga may not turn up as a nemesis to Wednesday as many are hoping, she could potentially appear as a guest at some point in the series. After all, Wednesday has also managed to grab the pop icon's attention in the most amusing way possible.
