Putting Jenna Ortega and Aubrey Plaza together in Wednesday season 2 would be a great move, and the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards proves it. At the February 26 ceremony, streamed on Netflix's YouTube channel, Ortega and Plaza partnered up to present the award for Best Male Actor in A Television Movie or Limited Series. Award shows are common for the banter between presenters, but there was something special between the two actresses on stage. The way they played off each other was a great preview for what a potential Aubrey Plaza casting in Wednesday season 2 could look like.During their presentation, Parks & Recreation's Aubrey Plaza and Wednesday star Jenna Ortega poked fun at the deadpan nature associated with their most iconic characters. After wondering why they were partnered despite having "nothing in common," the two decide they will find the people responsible for this, and in perfect unison, plot to "curse their families and watch as misfortune follows their bloodline for the next seven generations." This is what causes Plaza to humorously realize the similarities between the two of them. Though it was only a short bit, Jenna Ortega and Aubrey Plaza's banter was a highlight of the awards ceremony.Related: All 8 Things We Want To See Happen In Wednesday Season 2

Netflix Would Be Smart To Cast Aubrey Plaza In Wednesday Season 2

It would be a smart move on Netflix's part to cast Aubrey Plaza in Wednesday season 2. The SAG Awards were broadcasted on Netflix's official YouTube account, so there's a high chance someone involved in casting could have seen the duo's great on-stage banter. Plaza is already known for her deadpan nature, so she would be a perfect fit for the Netflix horror comedy. In a response to a fan's Reddit comment (via GQ), Aubrey Plaza revealed she'd love to play an adult Wednesday. While Netflix's Wednesday focuses on the titular character's teen years, this proves that Plaza is up for being part of the Addams Family universe.

Aubrey Plaza has experienced a wave of popularity as an actress ever since her beloved portrayal of sarcastic April Ludgate on Parks & Recreation, and her turn as Harper in The White Lotus season 2 has brought her even more attention and acclaim. It would be smart for Netflix to capitalize on this and cast Plaza in Wednesday season 2. Plaza is currently filming other projects, such as the Marvel show Agatha: Coven of Chaos, but hopefully her schedule and Wednesday season 2's filming schedule could align. Wednesday season 2 is already anticipated, and casting Aubrey Plaza will surely create even more hype.

Who Aubrey Plaza Could Play In Wednesday

Netflix's Twitter account joked that Plaza should be cast as an Addams relative, but that's the perfect idea for season 2. Although Plaza may have missed out on playing Wednesday, there's no reason she couldn't play a cousin or aunt that Wednesday idolizes. Ortega's deadpan performance as Wednesday is already great, and watching her interact with a similarly deadpan character would be very entertaining to watch. It would also be fun to see Wednesday interact with another Addams family relative; her scenes with Fred Armisen's Uncle Fester in Wednesday season 1 were great, and it would be nice to see more interactions with other Addamses.

Thanks to the SAG Awards presenting gig, Netflix already has proof that Jenna Ortega and Aubrey Plaza would work well together. They both had great comedic timing on stage that could easily translate to good on-screen banter in Wednesday. Even if Plaza played another role, like a teacher at Nevermore Academy, her interactions with Ortega in Wednesday would still be entertaining. It's possible that this casting won't happen due to Plaza's schedule, or the Wednesday creators could have other plans. Still, the comedic chemistry between Aubrey Plaza and Wednesday's Jenna Ortega is excellent, and someone needs to cast them in a project together—even if it isn't Wednesday.
