Happy Death Day writer/director Christopher Landon announces that production has wrapped on his new Netflix horror comedy We Have A Ghost. Based on Geoff Manaugh's short story "Ernest," the film centers on a man who moves into a new home and discovers it is haunted by a mostly harmless ghost who bears a striking resemblance to acting legend Ernest Borgnine. The two become overnight internet sensations, though when they begin taking an interest in looking into the ghost's past, they inadvertently draw the attention of the CIA.

Development on We Have a Ghost first began in 2017 after Legendary Pictures acquired the rights to the short story originally published in Vice and would continue quietly in the years since. Landon would officially sign on to write and direct the film this past July, with the Happy Death Day filmmaker assembling an ensemble cast including fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe stars David Harbour and Anthony Mackie as well as Jennifer Coolidge, Tig Notaro, Steve Coulter, Faith Ford, Tom Bower and Erica Ash. Production on We Have a Ghost got underway shortly after Landon's hiring and now the director has exciting news for fans eager for his next project.

It's interesting to note that We Have a Ghost has clocked in at an approximate 65 days of production, making it one of the longest in Landon's directorial career to date. The filmmaker has shared plenty of teases throughout filming on his social media, promising some larger-scale set pieces despite the film's seemingly low-scale premise. Landon's announcement that the film is officially wrapped should bring excitement to fans, namely as he has been on a winning streak in the director's chair with the Happy Death Day films and the body-swap horror comedy Freaky.

With production now wrapped on We Have a Ghost, it's unclear when audiences can expect the film to arrive on Netflix, though previous reports have indicated it will premiere sometime in 2022. As interested as fans may be to learn when the film will debut, a lot of curiosity is still being directed to who from the ensemble cast will be portraying the Ernest Borgnine doppelgänger. Viewers will have to keep their eyes peeled for further teases and announcements from Landon and Netflix in the coming months.
