A recent leak regarding the upcoming brawler MultiVersus reveals potential new characters from franchises like The MatrixBatman, and Lord of the Rings. The MultiVersus technical test is currently in full swing, with the full release of the mash-up arena fighter scheduled for later this year.

MultiVersus will be the latest game inspired by the extravagant formula popularized by the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Last year saw the release of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, which featured beloved characters like Spongebob Squarepants, Danny Phantom, and Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Also last year was the initial reveal of MultiVersus, which is Warner Bros' take on the subgenre. Some of the characters that have been confirmed for MultiVersus are Batman, Wonder Woman, Arya Stark, and Steven Universe, each of them coming with their own, character-specific abilities and stats. The full roster has yet to be revealed, but fans have been speculating about what kinds of interesting Warner Bros. characters could make an appearance.

Leaks and data mines have expanded the pool of possible characters coming to MultiVersus. Reddit user Kylestache shared a list of all confirmed and leaked characters earlier today, which includes those uncovered through the most recent leaks. Some of the more notable leaked characters include Joker, Legolas, and Neo. Assuming these leaks are accurate, it's important to note that these characters are only mentioned in the files of the game, and their playability is not specified.

With that said, however, it would be hard to imagine a Warner Bros. fighting game without a character like Joker. Batman is already confirmed to be a playable character, so it would only make sense to include his nemesis, especially if Warner Bros. wants to push DC Comics in MultiVersusThe Matrix is one of the most popular action franchises ever, so it's equally likely that its protagonist would appear in a game like this. Legolas might be the least likely considering his status as a more supplemental character in Lord of the Rings, but he's still more than popular enough to warrant an appearance.

When it comes to which characters will be included, it might be worth considering the long-term goals of Warner Brothers. The media conglomerate will likely want to use this game not only as a way to memorialize and pay tribute to its beloved IPs, but also to retain engagement for them. As such, characters that make ongoing appearances via modern franchise installments (i.e. Neo in The Matrix: Resurrections) will be more likely to be included in MultiVersus.
