Here's every song on the soundtrack for coming of age drama The Way, Way Back. The Way, Way Back is arrived in 2013 and follows a teenage boy who spends most of his summer vacation hanging out in a local water park, while being neglected by his mother and bullied by her boyfriend. The Way, Way Back was originally titled simply The Way Back, but had to change its title became of the 2010 Peter Weir movie of the same name; needless to say, it has nothing to do with the 2020 Ben Affleck movie The Way Back either.

The Way, Way Back digs a lot deeper than other coming of age teen movies of recent years, thanks to a great script and cast, which includes Toni Collette, Steve Carell, Allison Janney and Sam Rockwell. The movie wasn't a huge hit upon release, though it deserved to be, but it received mostly great reviews. The movie was co-directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, with the latter best known for playing Dean Pelton in Community.

While The Way, Way Back isn't set in the 1980s but it has the feel of that era, right down to the soundtrack. The filmmakers put together quite a mixtape of great music, so here's a breakdown of every song in the movie.

Any soundtrack that features music by INXS, Mr. Mister and Robert Palmer can't be all bad. Nat Faxon and Jim Rash later reunited to direct Downhill, a remake of 2014's well-received Swedish dark comedy Force Majeure where a father flees from his family during an avalanche, putting his life before theirs which, understandably, causes some strain. Despite a cast that includes Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the movie received largely poor reviews for being neither a funny comedy nor gripping drama.

The directing duo is next set to reunite with The Way, Way Back stars Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney for black comedy The Heart. Rockwell's turn as Water Wizz manager Owen was particularly singled out for praise in The Way, Way Back's reviews and the actor received award nods from the likes of Critics' Choice Movie Awards and San Diego Film Critics Society for his work.
