Aiden Pearce and his "iconic hat" were the stars of Ubisoft's Watch Dogs. Pearce was a Chicago-based vigilante, hacking anything and everything to help him in his quest for justice. He made an appearance in Watch Dogs 2 - but is seemingly absent from the latest entry in the series, Watch Dogs: Legion.

A series having multiple protagonists isn't rare. Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed switches player characters most every game. But Watch Dogs goes to great lengths to tie its games together through Easter eggs and references. The main gimmick of Watch Dogs: Legion, being able to control "anyone," seems like it would be the perfect opportunity to throw Aiden Pearce back into the mix. However, he's nowhere to be found - in the base game, that is.

The Bloodline DLC for Watch Dogs: Legion will introduce four new "hero"-type playable characters, including Aiden Pearce. The story-based expansion will add in a new campaign, which will feature new and reworked missions with Pearce as the main character. There is currently no release date set for Watch Dogs: Legion's Bloodline DLC, however. As of now, owners of the Watch Dogs Season Pass will be receiving Bloodline when it is made available.

Watch Dogs: Legion Season Pass & DLC Additions

Watch Dogs Complete Edition

The $39.99 (US) Season Pass for Watch Dogs: Legion is scheduled to contain the Bloodline DLC described on the Microsoft Store as, "one major expansion with two episodes, extra missions, four iconic heroes with unique abilities." It will also give players access to extra missions, skins, and other cosmetics.

While Bloodline may be MIA, Watch Dogs: Legion is set to receive a free multiplayer update on March 9th. Players who have the Season Pass are also supposed to get two single-player missions on that day as well. Neither will feature Aiden Pearce, unless Ubisoft surprises everybody. The multiplayer update will add both PvP and cooperative games modes, including free-roam and end-game situations.

Once the dust has settled from that update, Ubisoft may have more information to share as to when players can expect Bloodline. That DLC will feature another returning fan-favorite, with Wrench from Watch Dogs 2 set to return. The other two characters are, frankly, absolutely wild inclusions. One, Darcy, is from Assassin's Creed, a crossover that unites the franchises into one huge 'Ubi-Verse'. Or it would, if Ubisoft wasn't adamant that her inclusion "is not canon." The other is a woman named Mina who has mind-control abilities. In the semi-grounded world of Watch Dogs, that is a pretty big tonal shift.

To sum up, the Bloodline DLC will add a man in a LED mask, a woman from Assassin's Creed who may as well not be there based on Ubisoft's own statements, a woman who can control minds, and the original Watch Dogs protagonist, Aiden Pearce. A very motley crew indeed, something Watch Dogs: Legion players have plenty of experience with amassing.
