While Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise takes a year off (not counting the upcoming film), action hacker title Watch Dogs 2 is stepping up to fill the gap. Following the release of the original game from 2014, gamers the world over have been offered a small glimpse at the title by way of an enigmatic teaser trailer released online yesterday, and the subsequent announcement that the game will see release this November 15, 2016.
With an official E3 conference having occurred as of today at 9am PT, many players of the original third-person action-adventure title are probably excited by their very first look at the property's respective gameplay, plot, and all-new hacking features. Following the original's novel look at a dystopian Chicago ruled by one centralized operating system (known in-game as ctOS), players can soon expect another stealth player experience to rival that of former grey hat hacker protagonist Aiden Pearce, as can be seen in the first official trailer above.
In the footage featured above, Ubisoft teases gamers with several thrilling sequences featuring daring acts of high-tension computer hacking, thrilling gun fights, and daring feats of urban parkour across the streets of a marvelously realized depiction of San Francisco. The trailer doesn't reveal exactly who the title's new protagonist will be, though the inclusion of one drone and an array of horse head masks certainly paints quite the duplicitous picture of the new Watch Dogs 2 grey hat vigilante.
After the trailer leaked online yesterday on Twitch, and was later captured and posted to Twitter by independent user Fobwashed, many gamers the world over are probably already mounting their own plans for how best to attack San Francisco in Watch Dogs 2 when the game finally sees release later this fall. In the mean time, be sure to catch the official live stream of Ubisoft's E3 conference which aired earlier today.
With the first official trailer for Watch Dogs 2 released and out of the way, and given the fact that gamers now know that the new game will take place in a fictional San Francisco, all eyes are no doubt aimed towards discovering just who the title's new protagonist might be. Granted, after the events of the first game, former series protagonist Aiden Pearce is still alive and could still have a significant role to play in the events soon to come in aid to a new hero. On that note, here's to more hacking and stealth adventures in the world of San Francisco.
Watch Dogs 2 will be available to purchase from all participating retailers on November 15, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
