Call of Duty: Warzone fans are not having a great time these days, with some unable to even open the game due to bugs. Everyone is angry with Call of Duty, and it’s not hard to see why. Warzone bugs have been an issue since launch, and this is just the latest and most egregious example of something that can really make it hard to appreciate the game, or even play it at all.

It’s been a rough few months for the Call of Duty franchise. Between Vanguard and Warzone, gamers are voicing loud and frequent frustration with the state of both games. Vanguard has been all kinds of buggy, and Warzone hasn’t fared much better. The two do seem to be linked in unfortunate ways; Warzone players reported an increasing number of bugs in the game when it was reset to coincide with Vanguard’s launch. Warzone has also seen some flagrant cheating, with some users even mocking Warzone’s anti-cheat system with their user names. With bugs rendering the games close to unplayable, and cheaters infesting lobbies despite Activision-Blizzard’s touted anti-cheat software, Call of Duty is in a tough spot these days.

To make matters worse, Charlie Intel reports that some Warzone fans on Xbox are running into bugs that are so bad and so immediately apparent that they can’t even open the game, let alone then play with the lobbies full of cheaters. The issue seems to be that the game continually restarts upon launch, never actually loading to the point that gamers can start playing or even access the initial menu. For a game already full of glitches that need fixing, this isn’t helping matters, and it’s frustrating gamers who already weren’t terribly fond of the game. An endless restart loop is certainly one of the worst glitches to come out of the game to date.

That’s not the only issue plaguing gamers, though. Others have reported constant crashes, being unable to join their friends in-game, and extremely long wait times for matches. One fan said it took 56 minutes to get into a game, and went on to say that if they returned to the main menu, the restart loop happened again. Fortunately, there may be a temporary solution for this. This is far from ideal given how often that button is used to check notifications or return to the Xbox home screen, but until the Warzone development team can implement a more permanent fix, at least this might help.

Even as the Warzone team works to fix the game, parent company Activison-Blizzard is suing a Warzone heat-maker as a way to combat that particular complaint about the game. It’s likely to be a long road getting Warzone to be the game that gamers want it to be, and hopefully there are fewer huge bumps in that road like this glitch as time goes on.
